Do Werner not give a road test in Orientation for student drivers?

Let me begin by saying I've never worked for Werner so I'm not familiar with their policies. However, posters who do have knowledge concerning Werner's policies have chimed in with answers to your question about road testing at orientation, a subject that you seen to be overly concerned about, --- perhaps with good reason.

You also mentioned that you graduated from Big truck truck drivin' school almost a year ago and haven't driven a Big truck since. For someone with years of experience that amount of time wouldn't be as serious as for someone who has no experience at all. I'm surprised that Werner doesn't think you'll need a refresher course. What do you think? Do you feel confident enough with whatever you're able to retain from school to meet the requirements of the trainer who's job is to polish skills and demonstrate how Werner prefers things be done? Driver trainers aren't there to teach students how to drive, --- that's what Big truck truck drivin' school was for. Is it possible that you'll get through orientation only to fail to meet the minimum required drivin' skills?

I did orientation in Omaha in 2012. Road test 2nd day of orientation and another after the 275 hour training. Might be different now, no idea.

 

The first company I was with has there own CDL school and I have seen students go there, pass the DMV road test to get CDL, pass the schools final road test, go out with trainer for six weeks, and fail the final road test to upgrade to their own truck.

We see/read posts all the time of students gettin' Big truck truck drivin' trainers who expect a trainee to be able shift decently and not stall at all.
Many of us have heard Another Somebody Done Me Wrong, Song , .... Sung Blue .....so many times we've
forgotten the words.

I just finished orientation with Werner on Tuesday 12/6. Being a student, I did not have to conduct a road test, only the Q drivers (qualified) had to. Hope that helps some
