ask them if they can agree on these ideas that I would like to see implemented:
(1) A law that requires any and all fuel surcharges paid to be passed onto the person/company 100% paying for the fuel.
(2) Broker fees capped at no more then 15%
(3) Uniform fines in every state..I.E...stop small towns from charging hundreds of dollars for tickets to Trucks.
(4) The ability to pool together to buy Insurance..Large company's can and do "self insure"
(5) Eliminate the $550.00 annual "Federal heavy highway use tax"
(6) Suspend the State and Federal fuel taxes until the price drops down to no less then $2.00 per gallon.
(7) A "Truth in freight cost" law that will provide for Independent truckers to have and see the actual rate paid in loads that they haul. -
Never happen, no way to monitor it.
Can't happen- we have trucks asking for quick pay, comcheks, etc for payment, and we wait 90 days to collect from our customers. Carry $4,000,000 in receivables for a rotating 3-4 month (or longer) time frame and see how that works for you. If I find a nice load, and you make a fait dollar too, don't tell me how much I can make. If that's how it works- move to a socialized country. And we average 4-12% by the way.
I agree- But they know where the money is.
Excellent
Won't happen.
Fuel will never be that low again, so that won't happen either. Roads (like it or not) need to be repaired, and honestly- trucks do a lot to them.
Good luck with that. Can I get a "Truth in Contract" law that says if you back solicit a customer that I can place a lien against your truck for revenue lost? We have yet to recover for a back solicitation.
I appreciate the efforts, but honestly- the system just needs to work. If you have ###### brokers, dump them. I have the same guy calling me for loads everyday. I call him to haul something, and he's out "hauling hay for the Amish" at like $1.25 a mile. I'm offering $3.00/mile to a hotbed, and he can't ever seem to find time for them. The good loads are out there.
