Sleep App issues

My guess is it would depend on the CPAP you're using. My machine is 110v but works fine on a 400 watt inverter plugged into a 12V outlet. One suggestion is if you're able to do so you should install a new 12V socket wired (through an inline fuse) directly to the battery. That will make sure your device keeps running if your truck goes into load-shedding mode and turns off power to the installed 12v sockets.

 

I have had 2 different CPAP's and both worked with an included 12 volt plug.
My current CPAP has the chip set in it to record that it is being used.
This is a requirement now from the GODS ( FMCSA ).

 

Are all drivers going to be eventually tested for sleep apnea?

 

simple call to PPD Precision Pulminary Diagnostics will get you any supplies you need including the 12v cable. These machines are designed for 12v use. Thats why the 120vpower cord has the step down power pack module in between the machine and the plug.

There is an issue with these portable batts system they have. At least intially. The problem was the 12v cord they used for the inverter wasnt sized right for the voltage. they would burn up. Most of the 12v outlets on our trucks are fused as 15amp with a 10 amp plug. During charging under power the inverter plug would melt and blow the fuse , rendering the system useless. They instructed us to use the fast charging side on the charger but invariably I would blow a fuse. So unless the shops are authorized to install a direct to truck batts outlet , you have a very heavy projectile in the truck.

Where possible, use 120v to charge the batt fully. Being portable it could easily be taken into a TS to use thier power bypassing the need for the inverter. There was a alligator clip w12v outlet that then attached to the terms to give 12v power to the machine. I'd recommend buying one out of a truck stop, seemed much better quality than the roadpro garbage SNI had in the setup. The good one is made in York? Pa.. You can readily tell the difference in quality.


I saw they have started to use the fused plug end 12v male side on the inverters. No knowledge how well those work.

 

You will not need to do another sleep study if either (a.) you have notes in your records from your doctor that indicate the CPAP is controlling the effects of your sleep apnea or (b.) if your CPAP usage is tracked you can show at least 30 consecutive days of compliance. My employer contracts with an outside company that tracks device usage and when I did my last physical (last month) all I had to do was get a printout from them showing that I used my machine every night for the previous 30 days. The doctor who did my physical looked at the printout, asked if the machine helped and once I confirmed that it did he dropped the issue.

 

Really wish PPD would order the Z1 for drivers. Compact and can b had with a battery pack. Yes I emailed them, like mask they only deal with certain manufacturers. Crazy http://www.sleeprestfully.com/Z1.asp
