typically working around an OC. compiling new permit packets, trailer inspections, whatever seems reasonable but within the guidelines of the Docs light duty requirements.
-
Thanks. I live in Cedar Rapids, IA and run out of the Des Moines OC. I've been out since Feb. 10th with a broken arm and was just cleared for light duty work (no commercial driving and no lifting with the right arm). I'm not sure how it will work because I'm going to be starting on physical therapy 2-3 days a week here locally.
-
contact your dbl or occupational health yet? Not sure how out of towners would work with the frequency of therapy. Guy I know of was local. Then again on my old account there was a guy that drove in about 50 miles every day. But he was working 3rd shift office support for our account at that time.

Yeah I've been in touch with my dbl and Liberty Mutual (work comp, they are setting up my therapy).

I was interested in some input from people who have actually been doing it. I am currently employed as a Police Detective, been in the profession for nearly 15 years. In 2007 I attended driving school and then drove for a regional company for approximately 4 months before returning to LE. Over the past 6 years I haven't really advanced other than in position and my retirement for just over 11 years worth of investment is projecting me to be living in poverty if I were to stay in the system for 30 years. I recently attended a refresher course and have begun the search for a driving job. My goal going forward would be to move into a L/O or O/O position. I have been following several threads on here for the past couple of months for SNI and have become very interested in their Choice program. I recently submitted an application with SNI and have been contacted by recruiting. Signed the release form and they called back and set up a phone interview for tomorrow. I live in VA, on the East coast just off of the Chesapeake Bay approximately 60 miles in between Richmond and Fredericksburg. I have seen several listings for SNI for a NE Regional position, Walmart dedicated out of Gordonsville, a dedicated Dollar General out of Richmond and an OTR. My questions are these. Out of those routes, if offered which route would A.) Generate to best income. B.) Provide me with the best home time. C.) Give me the best opportunity to progress into their Choice Program and D.) Be the best to cut my teeth so to speak as a rather new driver?
Thanks to those who get the opportunity to respond, your opinion and insight is greatly appreciated. -
Are you really gonna copy and paste that in every single thread on here?
-
Actually no, I am not. But I am however trying to capture as much of an audience of SNI drivers as I possibly can so that I can gather first hand information in an attempt to make a well informed decision. A decision none the less that will impact the financial future as well as the well being of me and my family. After reviewing several threads over the past few months I found the ones that I did post this on to be some of the most actively used by SNI drivers and L/O alike. And, after following your thread it appears to me that you yourself work to be as an efficient L/O as you possibly can be thus one would assume you would understand the efficiency of copying and pasting.
-
I think the answers you seek are contained in the threads you've already read. Hell The 2 started by DFO , one as a company driver and the other IC one has all you would need to know to make an informed decision based on what YOUR goals are. Other than that you can learn alot in the orginal chat room thread that docked at the top.
Now to answer these IMO.....

DG is WORK!!!! Touching every box. Wlamart would be easiest by far and home for a 34hr restart every weekend (btw you dont get much more than the 34 off) or at least once a week whenever the account dictates. They do run 24/7 so your days off would be what they set. If the end goal is to go Choice O/O then I think you need to go OTR. I dont believe they count any dedicated as the required experience for acceptance on Choice, but I might be wrong. Contact a recruiter to know for sure what is accepted or not.
Based on what you have layed out as your "criteria" for now I dont think they can all be met at once.1tidefan Thanks this. -
if your a police detective why the hell would you want to be a truck driver. just curious
