    I repeat...
Mandatory 100% FSC passed through to the truck
Regulate the brokers... don't give anybody 50% for sitten on their buts talken on the phone!!! Everything will work out... It is not that the money is not there. The problem is all the ones in the middle taking it before you even get it... brokers by law have to have full disclosure so why don't they...

You are right, I wonder if they are pocketing more than just 50% since most posted loads are paying much less this year that same time last year, and what is worst brokers get very defensive when questioned about the subject.

i have run my own brokerage before, most companies and owner operators want the bottom line on what the load pays, if they are interested in the line haul charge they need to back their fuel surcharge out of the rate and budget that amount as line haul and put the fuel surcharge into fuel. if the line haul rate was to cheep don't book the load, any broker will breakdown the charges to how ever you want to show it. the saying "BROKERS DON'T PASS FUEL SURCHARGES" is wrong, the driver or company booking the load chooses not to back out the fuel surcharge they are going by.......what is your opinion?

I think when it comes to the crunch time the ones that are hurting the most have either made bad business decisions or have lived outside of their profit margin. My cousin who has been an O/O for over 30 years has changed drasticly in how he conducts his business. I remember when he had the flashy trucks with all the chrome. My company truck looks a lot more flashy than what he runs now. With todays prices one has to be very careful in how they run their business.

this congress this president ant going to help us truckers till they are out of office then with fresh blood in there we may get a chance to get a ear to listen to what will help us . whom ever the trucker is hauling the load should get the full surcharge and any one such as a broker who keeps any should be fined and lose there right to say a broker .and least on drivers should receive all the sir charges to. this is the only way a trucker running his or hers truck is going to stay a float in these times fuel ant coming down much we are one of the lowest paying countries in the world paying for fuel .see how much they pay in Europe around $8.00 is what a driver in England told me a few weeks ago .taking the federal and state taxes off wood help a lot we need to stick together on this , it will draw attention to the government and its people to make changes for all of us .

what has impressed me the most lately is Road Dog Trucking hearing the call shows, the "Junk-man" was on this evening at about 17:45 and he has the outlook every driver should have, he has an older truck (paid for) and knows what his cost is to run that truck and he does not take any freight that does not fit in his Business plan structure. Fuel prices will not change if the prices do go back down i don't see them going down under $3 a gallon with the low sulfur and extra cost to produce low sulfur fuels. the industry needs to find ways to make diesel more efficient. fuel surcharges will never go away, drivers and companies need to make sure they are on a good fuel program and do not very from it.

OK, when I listened to a radio show last weekend, they talked about the very same thing. Lots of callers wanted government intervention. Name one thing...one single thing the government has done, that they haven't screwed up? Education? Im a teacher and I can tell you volumes about NCLB. Oil? They can't control prices and they themselves are left and right approving public private partnerships on major roads along with tollroads across the country.

the last time the oil execs were up in front of congress, they made excuse after excuse about their profits. Now they are doing the same thing today. Yet...how many electric cars do you see on the roads today? They were slowly coming out a few years back, and now we don't hear or see of any of them at all. Nobody is even making them. Outside of Toyota making one.
The trucker should NOT get teh fuel surcharge if they aren't paying for fuel. Only the person or company that pays for the fuel should be given the surcharge.

and who is to figure what the fuel surcharge should be, fuel surcharge comes from your total expense to run the truck then take a base that base rate and subtract it from the current average fuel cost and divided by your miles per gallon for your truck equals fuel surcharge you should be asking for. if the goverment sets a surcharge it will not work for every driver or company.
