I'm looking for an experienced flatbed driver either Owner operator or Company that would be willing to teach me Load securement training on a 48/53 ft flatbed or stepdeck trailer. I'm looking to learn how to strap, tarp, and chain different types of loads such as lumber, steel coils, pipe etc. I need to be able to ride with you locally, regionally or OTR for 2-4 weeks. I'd be willing to pay weekly for this training depending on experience and ongoing mentor-ship afterwards. I will also come to you depending on where you're located. If you're interested please contact me. Thanks.

why not just go to parking lot to find someone to teach you?It is the time to earn money,i think nobody wants to miss the season now.I suggest you go to pilot on weekend. My boyfriend can teach you,he runs everywhere, how can you meet him?

The way I learned Securement, by paying attention to other trucks going down the road and at the truckstops.
ColumbiaBoB, 281ric and Macneil Thank this. -
Go to a truck stop on a weekend. you will find drivers sitting there with a load that can't del into monday.. Offer them a couple bucks to show you how its done and let u play around long as its nice out im sure most will do it for a couple bucks
281ric Thanks this. -
maybe Im wrong but for the most part , open deck guys seem to help each other out. I agree w. hanging out at a truck stop and making small talk with open deck guys and asking them. I still ask a lot of questions.
ramblingman Thanks this. -
where are you from. that make a big difference in who might be able to help you

it depends on the equipment and what kind of fasteners are on the trailer. TMC has us use the rub rail, but we clip it so the strap is on the inside. The metal clip is on the outside and thus the strap is protected. If your rub rail fails to hold the strap, you should have done maintenance on that trailer a long time ago.

Oh, I just love this one. Great way to start an argument. But on our new trailers you also have to use the rub rail. The edge underneath is to fat for the hook, and some of the other driver have complained, but they are what they are.
