Side-dump or belly-dump wood chips on field

    I have a source of wood chips at a logging site 5 miles from my 15 acres where I would like to spread it in small rows (ideally 1 ft deep/wide) . Ballpark estimate is 80 loads.
    Doing the spreading by skid steer would take too long.
    It sounds like a job for a belly-dump or probably better a side-dump trailer. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Get a stone slinger it would be able to lay down the desired windrow of woodchips that you want , or even a dump trailer equipped with the trap door on the tailgate they use for crushed stone

    If your intentions are to find someone to haul for you we don't do that here.

    You won't get heavy equipment on a field for spreading.

    Dealing with wood chips before you are inviting all kinds of ticks, insects and diseases.

    I would get a local dump to transport it to your field and then you would have to go from there. Maybe a front end loader and then plow it under.

    Walking or live floor would be a better option. You are not going to get it spread in one foot wide rows though. With that kind of trailer you will get more per load by a long shot.

    Thanks for all the responses - very useful.
    Not trying to pull any fast one by saying where I live; a buddy said "I have not seen any of these types of dump trucks here in the east. I saw bunches of these in the west and midwest, mostly hauling sand or maryl(not sure if that is spelled right). The belly dumps we have around here are for grain hauling. I have farms clients with them. They would have a hard time dropping chips."

    The slinger looks cool but I've never seen one operating while the truck is moving forward; and I can't find slingers in this area.
    The tip on the trap-door is great.
