Swift drivers...

True but it does include the entire pay scale of swift and where they see fit to place you on the pay scale depends on your experience. If you notice it does go all the way up to 5 years. You would have to call them to see where they will start you if you have experience. But that scale can give you a good idea as to what the pay looks like.

 

Thank you all for the information posted in this thread and others. I've now only read two Swift threads so far and they have really helped.

The only question I haven't seen directly addressed yet (due to my still-incomplete read-through of Swift threads) is how do drivers out of Texas fare with getting loads/miles. Thing is, with three terminals that I saw and the many Swift trucks I see up and down the interstate I'm guessing Texas drivers aren't hurting.

I drive my tail off in Texas but I run a team dedicated account. If you have a co-driver in mind and you are the type that can handle driving team I can reccomend you to the guys here at the account. As far as OTR goes I know of a few people who live in Texas and seem to have no issues getting home and getting miles.

There is also the option of running flatbed and doing the Laredo triangle that could get you miles and get you home consistently.

I just recently did some consulting work with Transport America. They have a pretty impressive Student Driver program. What was impressive to the drivers I spoke with was that the instructors were actually AWAKE during the shifts and actively coaching. They average between 2-3,000 miles a week depending on driver and Driver Manager and the equipment is considered solid and clean. They have enough freight lanes to get you home when you need to as well so that is never an issue. You should check them out. I've worked with several companies recently and they seemed to be the most transparent of the bunch.
