antenna shaft length question

    looking at going with dual hustler trucker antennas,running a high watt mod galaxy 949 on a kw t2000, question is does it make a difference in the 9" shaft or the 22" shaft using the side mounts, other than the height, which would be better for my set up thanks in advance...

    From what I understand, the higher one can put the coil (load) from the mount (base) the better the performance. So strictly speaking from a performance perspective, the 22" shaft is better in theory.

    best results are with the coil above the roofline

    OK, when it comes to antennas, bigger really is better. Height, clearance and better adjustability all make the bigger antenna better. Get a Wilson, Monkey Made, Predator, K40, firestick, or whatever you like. A 108" whip will beat em all! and do it with better SWR's. Lots of advantages to going bigger.
