And my Western Star hood got the exact same MPG as a buddy in his Crapcadia midroof XT, pulling the same loads on the same roads. Same engine, same trans, and accounting for tire size, same rears. Hell, even had the same trailers....
There IS a point where it makes no difference from my experience.
Those loads were @10'6" wide, 15'4" tall, and about 100k lbs gross IIRC.

I'm not arguing with you about the fleet trucks Martin. I understand where you're coming from. Personally I'd rather have a Columbia then a Coronado or a 386 over a 389 or a T660 over a W900. That's just my preference. Doesn't make me an idiot. I'm just saying you can fleet spec anything.
Rugerfan Thanks this. -
LOL Never going to happen! Now going back as a company driver? Sure I would do that if I had my old job back but lease on? F no!

Not you silly

I guess I am lost in the conversation! LOL Oh well nothing new.truckon Thanks this.

yes ! true enough, the fuel guage does verify and I'll be checking and get back to you ! lol, fair enough. All I'm saying is if I can save 0.07/mile driving 64 vs 70 I want to know that. I may still choose to drive 70 at times, but I wanna know what it's costing me when I make that decision. If I can save 0.15/mile hauling aluminum bars or plastic pipe instead of ag equipment, I wanna know that as well.
If I'm looking at a 12' wide box out of the port and it's windy, well, they'd have to pay me cuz I'd prolly get 4 mpg if lucky with something like that ! -
My Columbia was not fleet spec'd at all. I got everything on it besides the fog lights in the bumper.
Cascadia's and Prostar's are the new fleet spec'd trucks for most mega fleets though. Probably is a shame, as a well spec'd out one would just disappear in the crowd of fleet junk.
Buddy of mine spec'd a Cascadia, and came up with the same price, as a truck that is worth something at the end. No way I could spend Pete/KW/WS money, on a FL myself. One is worth a LOT less at trade in time than the rest isn't it? Freightliners used to be cheaper to buy for the one truck owner, which made sense as they were worth less at trade in. Seems now they expect the same money as trucks worth a LOT more at trade in though.
Buy cheap, sell cheap. Buy expensive, sell expensive. What a sensible guy cannot do, is buy expensive and sell cheap.
Just my .02 though as normal.
Martin281ric and dannythetrucker Thank this. -
I have tried and tried and tried again to find a not fleet spec'd FL mid roof XT Columbia or century and I have only found 1! I have been looking around lately.... Just incase. I'd buy one to pull a step around with, but finding one with a 13 speed is like pulling teeth!!
