I new to here. Live in Miami Florida. I just bought a truck 3 month ago. It's a frieghtliner that I bought for 4200$. I am borrowing a trailer from other driver for a few months. I have a shipper that has some loads going from Miami to Tampa area. It's refer freight, that he says pays 1.33$ per mile. It sounds good to me, but it kinda heavy 53,000 Ibs each load. But I do not go into dot check points b/c I do not have enough money for truck insurance. I hoping I can do these loads so I can buy truck insurance. I been driving this truck for 1 1/2 months but only local loads b/c truck not registered or insurance. Does anyone know how far you can drive before you need to have insurance in Florida. A lot of my friends say it's ok as long as you don't leave Miami. Yes or no? Thank you all for help.

I drove for company before I bought my own truck and was paid 0.49$ each mile and 15$ per hr for loading/unloading. I thought 1.33$ per mile would be good but after reading driver on here I think I need to see if I can get more. I need to do these loads for only a little bit so I can get some money together. This shipper is going to pay cash cause he knows I'm trying to start a company and don't have all papers Yet

Are you really serious, or just crazy? Your running a non registered, non insured truck on a public road? What do you think is going to happen to you if you get in an accident ? What kind of shipper is paying somebody in an old, unregistered, uninsured truck to move their freight? People like you are the ones that make our whole industry look bad. I hope you get caught and locked up. You are not a struggling newbie, you're a criminal.

To an extent I understand your mindset. The regulations and requirements make it very hard for a small business to start out. Some may even say it's a government conspiracy to keep the rich rich and the poor poor. But not having insurance and registration is very frowned upon. Some of the taxes/regulations are stupid but the states/government has to pay for the roads we drive on somehow. And if I were hit by an uninsured truck driver I'd probably lose my mind. Heck if I was hit by an uninsured 4-wheeler I'd lose my mind.
I doubt you will find anyone here who will sympathize with you seeing as you are technically a criminal and we are honest people trying to make an honest living. It is hard to do in this industry but the law is the law. I hope you become legal ASAP and don't get caught. But if you continue to run that way and don't become legal it's only a matter of time and many people here, myself included, will not feel the least bit sorry for you if you get caught and penalized. -
If you drive a truck Anywhere, local or not, you need insurance. If you did not save up for these expenses you probably shouldn't be an o/o. Although, if you sign on with a company like landstar, they will take your insurance out monthly as your making money. That's assuming your truck will pass a DOT.

130/mile isnt bad in florida....if your heading north. Florida rates suck

Sell that truck, if you don't have enough for insurance, you don't have enough for repairs.
