I don't know about others on this forum but when a 1 post wonder slams a company my first reaction is slight skepticism but when new members seem to jump on the OP with all out fervor it just gives the OP more credibility .... youknowwhatImeanVERN-- in my best Jim Varny voice

First off I don't think silencing someone over their opinions is really a democratic thing to do so long as he wasnt abusing anyone and I believe that may be considered abuse of power.

Second, they are not russian but romanian and to mix the two is like calling an american a canadian or mexican.

Third, they pay us fair for out hardwork and we are able to provide for our families with dignity. Thay is alot more than these so called legal running companies that pay drivers scraps to live off of while their families live off government help. These big trucking companies are no less than walmart on wheels. They churn profits while forcing the tax system to pickup the slack for their underpaid drivers.

And finally, to each their own. I worked for ani, cfi and another smaller outfit and they all made me run loads that I knew I was too tired to run regardless if they were legal on paper or not. To me that is worst than letting the driver choose the times he is able to run while at the same time having on time delivery. When they run drivers as if they are robots is when you will see great damage hence Schneiders 40 million dollar law suit for its driver killing people or other driver killing 7 members of a family by making an illegal u turn because he was too tired to clearly see the van coming and on and on and on.

As long as you are happy driver. I'm just wondering how your home time works being you live in beautiful southern California and they are in Chicago? Also when the hired you did they give you a bus ticket to Chi-town or what? How did the logistics of that situation work out?

got me a flight out to chicago, picked me up at airport, paid for 3 days at baymont inn nice hotel and drove me from and to office all 3 days including to drug place to get tested.

Its a good company and works for me and everyone else that works there. May not work for everyone but then you dont see me crying to the government about big companies raping me out of proper pay and comfort while on the road.

This is a company that lets me take hotel stays anytime I deem it necessary and they pay for it.
hell once one of the owners wanted me to get a hotel because I was waiting for about 20 hours for load and i said I would just stay in truck because cheapest hotel I could find was 90 bucks.
He flat out told me dont worry about it you get your rest.

as opposed to say schneider who put my truck in shop for 3 days and gave me someone elses truck filled with their crap as a loaner to sleep in???? Enjoy if thats what makes u happy.

being treated like a human being is what makes me happy.

The IRS, and various other state labor and revenue agencies are starting to catch on to the 1099 scheme, there are articles all over the place about it.These days are coming to a close, thats why Amerifreight cleaned up their act... With a 1099 agreement it absolves the company of a lot of liability to the driver and the public. If you choose to work this way and god forbid something bad should happen, like a fatality accident, see how quick this shadetree outfit is going to run from you. Get hurt due to their negligence, and see how far they run, thats why you probally have Ocuupational Accident insurance that is limited in what it pays if you are hurt.Just some words of wisdom from someone whos been around the block a few times

You sir are 100% correct. So Amerifreight started paying on a W-2 like they should?

Trust me Sir I don't disagree with you at all. I lost my job and went into debt thereafter, same time my mother passed away at a young age and you know how funeral costs can be without insurance. This job helped me get back on my feet and they helped me quite a bit. I understand there are risks involved and I know that 1099 has setup rules.. for example it states clearly in the IRS regs that one is considered 1099 if the equipment used to fulfil the job is owned by the person that is doing the job. In this case we don't own the truck so obviously that clause alone would make 1099 insufficient for us.

I have told the owners numerous times that they should go w2 as that not only clears them of many such issues but also that they basically can use the tax money collected from drivers as an interest free loan until the end of the year when they have to return it to the IRS. Some people just are afraid of change even if that change is for their own good. Ah Well.. I've been contacted quite a bit by my ex SNI recruiter so who knows what the future holds. Definitely not 1099 for me thats for sure.
