It's one of the selling points to work at the three Walmart DCs Prime operates. There are a core staff of Prime drivers that live locally and work them exclusively.

You might be thinking of the rest of the fleet. The OTR guys. We fill in and do one or two runs before we're turned loose back to the fleet. Whenever I filled in, I knew id be doing another run if I did a store load with a Walmart trailer. If the store run was in a Prime trailer it was a good indication that I wasn't returning and returning to the 48 state freight pool.

5 days in a row was my longest streatch when they were starting up the Lewiston contract. I was back every day, and not being a local guy I just took my break in my truck as I normally did. At the time they were still in the process of hiring the local drivers.

No... It might be common knowledge with General Freight. Prime didn't get that account just because of their "Lightweight Division". Most places could choose to run daycabs and still be effective. But hey, if that's the word around Prime, Uh, I guess........

Added... just went back and read wyldhorses previous comments in this thread and i thought he was a driver for prime and he isnt. I guess he doesn't understand how an Wal-Mart DC operates. But hey wyldhorses I'm willing to break this down for you if you want me too...

look, I dont want to sound mean, and i totally understand your viewpoint, but dont be upset at people trying to have the things they want. if i was a walton or a prime, i would have gold toilets too, and so would you, its the american way. if you dont want to drive a smaller truck, dont work for prime. thats how the world works.

I wouldn't have any respect for a company who didn't have gold-plated toilet seats in their third vacation home

I don't get it, why is it that if the executives or the highest-ups make a lot of money its a terrible terrible thing and they should be lynched and hung, but if the lowest people make the most amount of money its ok.

seems a bit hypocritical to me

Cough cough.. When contracts are up its a bidding war.. Who ever has the lowest bid and services gets the contract. Also sni does have lightweight cascadias. Stripped down tractors one fuel tank one seat no fairings. And don't say sni lost because they don't provide they received another service award from Walmart for 2013.

think about it, Freight is getting so cheap anymore, which kind of makes sense given how heavy freight is getting

they will ONLY go to the lowest bidder, so everyone is under-cutting each other.

at this point we're going to be driving trucks that are basically modified yard dogs, if drivers don't want to drive them there is a 34% unemployment rate in this country.

its the oldest game in the book "do what we say or go away" that is how every company became big
