Im sure there plenty of drivers came to act with no money in the bank and still made it here . If you dont have a game plan and dont have a clue how to manage income then its hard to succeed . All im sayg.

Every load we pull has to fit into a budget and you gotta have a plan to make $$$$ off of it or it doesnt make. cccc.

Read the last couple of pages of this thread and decided after many months of not responding to the forum, maybe it was time to jump back on and clear up some myth's and outright lies.I've been at ACT for 3 yrs. under the lease program and have a little over a yr and my truck will be paid off.So unlike many,I know what I'm talking about.First off,Blacklions is absolutely correct about 80% of truck drivers have no business leasing a truck. The reason being, that they can't think of trucking as a business, only as a driver, driving somebody else'e truck and making their 35 cents a mile or whatever. That's where they should stay.

The guy that said he's glad he found out ACT wasn't for him is probably correct,he was scared off by having the thought of spending money on a business to keep it maintained and operational.Obviously he has no business experience. The way I did it was to get a lowmilege truck (180K) that had plenty of factory warranty that covered everything for the first yr I was under my lease (problem solved).I made over 80k here last yr. and over 70k my first yr,and yes that's after all expences.I have many yrs of business in my background and this is one of the easiest adventure's I've ever done.

The only problem I have seen at ACT as to why lease guy's fail is because they have no work ethic or business exp.Again they all think like company driver's.They want to be home more than keeping the business open and running. There's a reason somebody else's name is on the door of the truck they're driving and it wont ever be their's.That guy with the nice home, nice car's and money in the bank got out and worked his behind off for a few yrs or a lot of yrs and earned it,he certainly didn't do it by driving someone else's truck.

One thing Blacklions didn't mention when he stated that he had to spend 6k out of pocket was where that money came from?gee I wonder, oyeah it was out of his bank acct, the money he earned by working at ACT.He also failed to mention the new king ranch crewcab diesel he bought last yr. and the 2 months he was off last yr scuba diving all over the world on 5 or 6 different trips.I myself have only worked 60 out of the last 90 days. How could I do that?gee I wonder, oyeah it was out of my bank acct.I know all this because I recruited Blacklions and have enjoyed watching a guy make a great living and enjoying himself.

So all you guy's keep crying and saying what a bad place ACT is and 20% of us are laughing all the way to the bank.Somebody has to drive all those company trucks right?

    Hey pete,

Awesome.....You know they say it takes 80% of digging to harvest 20% of the gold........
I'm glad you posted and here's why....I have years of business experience myself but not in trucking. I am actually in the process of kicking off a ground level business that will be ran by my wife in the holistic health field.
I am a newbie but only with the intention of O/O. I know ppl think I am crazy (which some is true...lol) for going in the trucking industry blinded. Well Im not all blind for I have watched my dad and brother both succeed in this industry before dad's passing. I believe that I can turn $$$ and make a living in this business. I say to my colleagues that "businesses fail, not to inexperience or poor inventory, but poor management. most people I know that have failed in any industry, failed because they didn't know how to make money work for them instead they worked for the money......"A servent is slave to his master" Money can't be your master but you have to be monies master and then it will work for you.....

    Thanks again

    Thanks for the compliment TAC12

I just can't believe how baffled I become when I read and see all these driver's who have no ambition or the insight to see the big picture. Why people live paycheck to paycheck when they can better the situation,if not for themselve's at least for their families.I started a post on here a couple yrs ago in the questions about companys section and explained everything I did and what I made every week.It got to taking up a lot of my free time and I think I got bored with it.Alot of people read that thread and even came to work here, like Blacklions. They saw that everything I said was true and just basically did what I did.Worked hard.

I had a goal to pay off this truck and have stuck to it,no matter what.I have been very fortunate to have found this company and have also made a good living while paying off my truck.A person is not going to get rich driving a solo truck in this industry but that has never been my goal. All I wanted was to have my own truck and then I can do what and when I want to.I'm 53 and want to spend my time doing what I want to do,that can never happen driving someone else's truck and being given a week or two vacation every yr.

I guess the part that baffles me the most is how somebody can't see that you go out for 4 or 5 yrs work your tail off,pay off one of these late model trucks, earn decent money and then you're home free.Nobody in our society these days want's to make any kind of sacrifice to better themselves or the family,I just don't understand it.Oh well I guess that's why all the mega carriers have fools lined up like domino's every week to drive those company trucks. As a newby you really don't have a choice,I had to do the same thing. But there are company's out here who will give you a fair deal and help you out all they can,and I was lucky I found ACT

Being a newbie is indeed an objection to some but I look at it as a simple stepping stone. I wont accept the fact that I have to fell under the vice of mega row..Not that some people are not happy with them. I just wouldn't be one of em....I'm to #### determined NOT to be a stat....lol....Hey If it works for them God Bless em...I just know my abilities and know that all I need to do is wait for some time to acquire on my record of experience....I have already looked into leasing on as an O/O with several companies and I know the time when it's right to do so. Within a small fluctuation of my numbers for fixed and non-fixed expenses I can make $$$.... Right now I have an opportunity to make a real good purchase on a unit w/ reefer for under 20k....I have a post on here with the features if you care to read, looking for an investor who's interested in making a good ROI....

    Anyway,
    Thanks again for your post!!!!

Gee with all that business sense and money you got I would have gotten off at Front St exit and went and purchased a truck from KW on my way into ACT. Instead you are paying those ridiculous lease payments. I bet your payments would be half as much with a reasonable amount down. Oh I better shut up I am spoiling your recruiting chances aren't I?

Well I guess this proves what I said in the beginning of my post on joe's thread here. This exact guy was obviously one of the failures I mentioned and has decided he will bash and hate on ACT driver's who are successful. He lied and said I stated I had a lot of money and why didn't I get off on Front st. and buy a new kenworth.Well as all can see I never said anything about having a lot of money when I came to ACT.I was a general manager of a medium sized company for 16 yrs prior to getting into trucking and had to produce a profit every month or have a really good reason there was a loss. That would be my most recent business exp. prior to leasing trucks.

I guess perhaps exact gets his feelings hurt when he see's all the guy's on here that are successful and won't come to grip why he was a failure.I don't understand why exact doesn't start his own thread and tell his sad story about how he was ripped off, lied to,and all the other excuses guy's like him that fail always seem to come up with.Well enough about exact,he has showed that he will lie and say anything to try and justify his failure.

This thread is about a guy who is doing just fine and show's everybody truthfully what he's doing and what he's making and I hope he continues to be successful and reach his own goals.

I will comment on why I thought ACT's deal was more than fair on my lease purchase.I leased a 2010 KW and signed a contract for 102,000 dollars to be paid in 47 months with a 12,000 buyout at the end.I researched my truck and found I could buy the same thing for approx. 85,000.Well that showed me that I was paying 17,000 in interest on a 85,000 loan basically. That's about what a bank will charge on truck's because they're higher than conventional car loans. So I figure ACT will make 12,000 off of me for their profit.Me being a capitalist,I am completly happy with the figure's.They put up all the risk,I came in with nothing.

All you driver's that read and follow joe's thread should not pay much attention to the couple guy's that were failure's at ACT and are just disgruntled x-employee's,you all know the type and have seen them at every work place.

    Good Luck Joe,Keep It Up!!
