I think the time has come for extreme measures. The other side needs to know this is a serious matter. They think this strike is going to have it's 15 minutes of fame and then fade into obscurity.

For those of us that were old enough to remember it.

Following the withdrawal of rigs in April, 1970, FASH established marshalling areas throughout Western Pennsylvania where other steel haulers were invited by FASH members to pull off the highway and participate in discussions. In many instances, these invitations resulted in shootings, arson, rock throwing, tire slashing, and other assorted acts of wanton vandalism.

Is this what you're looking for?

Whatever needs to be done, needs to be done.

We need to be taken seriously.

What is the alternative? Being slowly starved to death?

We have tried talking, and it has gotten us nowhere.

I think you're a bit over the top. This has only been going on for a couple of days.

Do you really want to see DHS patrolling your streets?

Do you really want a free ride to your local jail, for terrorist acts against the United States.

Before you act, you should read up on the rules and regs surrounding ANY truckers strike in America. Then take a Xanex and calm down.

They have been starving us for years. There comes a time when a man has to stand up and be a man.

This isn't nursery school where being nice gets you a gold star and a smiley face.

You are correct. But, no good battle was fought without leaders and a plan.

I'm not about to run naked in the streets to get my point across. When a leader with a plan emerges, then I will consider the issue. Not before.

If he is wearing a 3 piece. I'm out of the loop.

Nope, it's the United States where you must behave in order to be heard. If you act out without thinking and without following the rules, you will be seen as a hothead and dismissed, thrown in jail. Do whatever you can but make sure you do it legally and you will be listened to.

    Brenda,

We have talked and talked until we are blue in the face. The government won't even let us have an organization with a leader who has the power to call a strike.

We as Owner Operators have absolutely no right to organize under the laws of the United States. In the past whenever we tried to organize and collectively bargain, the courts have ruled that we were in violation of The Sherman Anti-Trust Act.

We can't keep on the way we are going. We will all end up bankrupt if we don't change something.

How many times have we asked for help nicely?

It's time to stop playing "Mother May I?" with the oil companies and the brokers who are sucking us dry.

We do need to act now. We need to be smart about it though! Any negativity will counter act everything we are trying to accomplish.

Let things happen. Keep talking about what needs to get done and ways to get it done without making truckers look like whining idiots. We can succeed, but it needs to be done right.

The big guys won't help because they don't really need to. It's up to the little guys to show everyone we aren't ignorant and we can speak for oursleves and WE WILL CONTINUE UNTIL OUR NEEDS ARE MET.

By the people, for the people... The people are speaking - can you hear it?

Lucifer, I realize that. I was just reminding you that, if you go to TOO extreme measures, you'll find it much harder to be taken seriously, you know?

I know our neighbor, who is an O/O, barely makes more than Mike (who is a company driver with new driver mileage pay) and Mike's home every night with this company. Our neighbor is home every weekend but is gone all week. To me, it's not worth it any more. O/Os used to make a really good living - my uncles were all O/Os and my cousins. Things have changed so much... :(
