ALWAYS give a notice then be flexible when your current company either lets you work out the notice or just ends employment then. It's just a courteous gesture and other companies look favorably on that.

HireRight got sued a couple years ago for fictitious lies about drivers. The new company wouldn't be checking your history if they weren't interested. Quitting without notice is not an issue. How are you going to blast them Jopper? Make up lies? People move on everyday. He's not guaranteed this new job so why should he put in a notice. When you fire someone Jopper you don't give them a notice. This isn't a single position filled by a few qualified applicants. This is trucking with the highest turnover rate in the industry and a large pool to fill the jobs. When someone starts making up lies they can be sued.

Freightwipper if you have a good record and the required experience in just go for it. Driving jobs are a dime a dozen. With drivers with wrecks, tickets and felons getting jobs you are considered a good candidate regardless how you quit.

If you want wait until the new company agrees to hire you and then explain to them you would like to work out a notice with the previous employer. But don't tell them in advance. He might be vindictive and fire you on the spot.

If your record is clean you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Most can discern when a company is giving them the business about an employer. The first question that would come into my mind. If somebody was burying somebody under a load of manure is. Why then do you still have him employed if he can't find his way out of a wet paper sack.

Now if you have a few dings and dents. Don't be surprised if your employer tells the next one. I'm sure if your employer was able to find you a willing participant to work for low wages. They won't have a problem finding another one. Just look how large CRST and England are :)

It was in a Truck stop parking lot.
    No police record

clean MVR and nothing on my record that I'm aware of.

That would be something if it's down as an accident, for cracking a light lens lol
