Newbie----I live in southern California and Celadon has a terminal in Fontana which is about 50 miles from my house. They said I could have Fontana as my home base. I'd like to drive solo but I understand that is up to my manager.

I am also looking at Celadon-Quality as my entry in this industry. I just want to say Yes I have seen some negative comments about them, but nowhere near what I have seen about Cr. England, Swift, ETC...... This is my outlook at this issue, No I have not attended their school or anyone else's for that matter, but plan to be scheduled around the 14th of April. The recruiter I talked to was very helpful and answered all my questions, something the other BIG company recruiters didn't do!! I too do not have a CDL yet but with hard work and dedication it will be accomplished. With my past experience in the coal industry I was a Maintenance Supervisor, so I dealt with a lot of up's and downs that ppl had been thru. This is what I always told my new hires, 1. Come in ready to expect a totally different environment than that you have been used to, It may seem very difficult right now but it does get better. 2. Come ready to Work hard, nothing is given to you, you have to work hard to make it work, it all depends on your output and input. What you put into it, is what your are going to get out of it. 3. If you come in here with the attitude that your not gonna make it, well to be blunt, you will not make it!!! Like I said if you come in believing all the horror stories you have heard, the first day here you will be looking for the bad stuff and totally overlooking the good stuff! Staying away from negative ppl will also help, like the old saying goes 1 bad apple can ruin the whole basket!! yes there will be good and bad days with any job, training, and life in general. So this is my outlook just because a few have had a bad experience, to me they either didn't really want to be there in the first place, or they do not have confidence in their own work ethic!!! Remember I am no expert but you get out of it what you put into it. So work hard, study hard, and everything will fall into place. Thanx

Whiteknuckle94,
You hit the nail on the head! Attitude is everything. Work ethic is key! Trucking is a tough business. To be successful you have to be willing to work hard and study even harder. People need to grow-up and take what they want. Nobody is going to give you anything. I spent 5 years in the industry during the 1980's so I do know a bit about it. Until very recently this past weekend I was studying for my CDL-A and chose Celadon as my first choice to work for right-out-of- the-gate. Unfortunately, I found out this weekend I found out my health problems are much worse than was originally thought so I won't be accepting any of the job offers I received. Best of luck to you, I believe you made the right choice!Whiteknuckle94 Thanks this. -
