JBS is doing mass layoffs with drivers so, stay away

 

just finished with RM and have to pay my hotel fees and going with JBS also

 

JBS are laying off drivers, but only the drivers that no longer liver in the freight lanes. It's difficult for the companies to get you home on time, if they don't have freight going to that area. If you live near one of their plants, or somewhere along their freight lanes, then it's a great company to work for. I worked for them for about 15 months, then got laid off on 03/07/14, due to above reason. I would recommend JBS Carriers to any driver that lives within the hiring area.

 

What part of JBS would you recommend? Isit the 1000mi weeks? Maybe it's the trucks that constantly break down (I had almost 70 break down days in 12 months)? I know, it's the load planners that have no clue how to plan.
Truth is, they are laying off drivers because the operations staff is so incompetent, they have a problem getting a driver from point A to point B.
This is the second time in a year that JBS has done a mass layoff of drivers; not to mention laying off half of their maintenance staff.
If you want any kind of job security, this is not the company to work for.

 

The layoffs are still not over. They started in January and it's almost April. Like I have said in other threads, if you don't live near one of their plants, start preparing.
Really, when your parent company is JBS Swift, you have over 700 drivers and they lay off drivers that live in a major city because "we have a problem getting you home", there's a problem.

 

JBS didn't lay off half of the maintenance staff, JBS wouldn't give them a raise, so a bunch of them went to work for the drilling companies that moved into the area. I never had a problem with getting miles, 2500 to 3200 miles a week, unless it was time for my hometime. And as far as trucks being in the shop all the time, drivers complain about that at just about every company. Whenever my truck would go in the shop for a day or more, they would give me one of the on deck trucks, and let me run local, or shuttle trailers back and forth from the plant, or go to Millard's and pick up loads.

 

sorry, they did lay off half the mechanics, in Greeley and Green Bay. The reason, they said there was not enough work. 2500-3000mi a week? That's a flat out lie. Every so often, a driver could get that but sorry to tell you, 1700-2200mi is the norm and has been for over a year now. As far as the trucks breaking down goes, almost 70 days down in a year is extreme. It's great you can deck an on-deck truck to run local for $50 a day but, when most people break down, it's on the road.
with that said, I looked you up, 6 years at USA Truck then JBS and now, I believe you are going back to USA Truck (unless I've misread it)? So maybe for you, when compared to USA Truck JBS is a good place to work but unfortunitly, it's not even close. I'm not trying to insult you or anything, I'm really not but, most of your time, if not all, has been spent at two of the worst companies in the country. Even though JBS is a still a step up from USA Truck, I would call JBS one of the worst companies I've ever worked for. When you and I started there, it was ok but hasn't been a good place to be in over a year.

 

I have no reason to lie about the miles I was getting at JBS, just posting my experience with the company. There's plenty of drivers there that I knew we're getting 2500 + miles.

 

Well, every driver I talked to there was the same as me, 1700-2200 on average. JBS right now is even advertising 2200 a month, and that's the high side. Over a year ago, yes, 2500-3000 was the norm for me and SOME that I talked to. But, over the last 13 months, 1700-2200 was average with 1000mi a week common and this was not only myself, but 100% of the other drivers I spoke with as well.
I used to walk up to drivers and ask, "when did JBS go downhill?" and the answer was always the same "Febuary of 2013." Coincidence?
