    Yes I had a 86 with factory boxes .
I was told by my salesman that it was the last year you could order them when I tried to order a set in a 89 model I ordered .

In an off road application a 238 and a 4 x 4 did a great job. Just be careful to not pull it down to low RPM and get it running backwards, creates an oily mess before you can get the STOP cable pulled out. Oh for the good old days:biggrin_25519: ha ha ha.

You can still get factory boxes to this day if you know the right salesman. I have a friend with an 08 with a 10 and 4 from the factory. They wouldn't do the 6 main because they said it couldn't handle the torque. There is a 2013 glider in Kansas with a 6nz, 3.36, and a 6 and 4. And I do have pics, but can't figure how to post the from my phone.

Yep. They still make the boxes though if I remember right they have to be sourced from Spicer's subsidiary in Mexico.

You can still get them special order, hubby is specing a new truck for himself been told by KW that he can get the boxes factory installed on the rig but it will be longer for delivery but he is also ordering tri drives so he in for a wait anyway.

Wasn't the small HP as much as the small torque. And like 'olhand pointed out, a very narrow powerband as the torque fell off quickly.

And Jake? Your buddy looks younger than the truck.:biggrin_2559:

Yours must have been one of the last off the line before they started with the 379.

I remember seeing an ad for a 1979 KW W900A with a 400 Cat, Spicer 6 x 4 and factory Aerodyne sleeper. Love the W900A
