The Media needs to WAKE up.. The SHUTDOWN is FAR from being over.... We've all got friends and brothers still on the ROAD headed home to shutdown.

    WAKE UP,
OOIDA - has now got their noses in it. They are taking our voices to Washington. And we've also now got FL States representation.

One of your elected representatives, SENATOR BILL NELSON, wants to help truckers in Florida and across the nation deal with fuel prices.
Please call his office today. Please convey to him and his staff how fuel prices are impacting you, your livelihood and your family.

He will not only be interested to hear your thoughts on how fuel prices can be brought down, he will also want to hear about what you feel can be done within the trucking industry to help you and your fellow truckers.
Senator Nelson is especially interested to hear from you if you have dealt with brokers or motor carriers who've skimmed or pocketed portions of fuel surcharges that should have gone to you.

The number for Senator Nelson's Capitol Hill office is (202) 224-5274.

Your other Senator, SENATOR MEL MARTINEZ, and your Congressman should also be hearing your thoughts and suggestions.
The number for Senator Martinez's Capitol Hill office is (202) 224-3041.

To contact your Congressman or Congresswoman, call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121, provide the operator with your home zip code and they will connect you with the office of your elected representative.

You all can say what you want to but this country has around " 6 MILLION DRIVERS " And every dam one of them has a mouth. They just need to start using it for goodness sake...

BLOW THIS MANS PHONE OF HIS DESK - 10-4!!!!!

    All the best,
    Matt / OverTime

Last night I was at our community grocery store/gas station. Owner was stressing out because no fuel delivery was made yesterday and he was completely out of gas, all grades, and was having to deal with upset customers. He thought there was a problem at the refinery. Oops!

OOIDA was just in place as a pacifier. Owner Operators needed a real union. OOIDA was just there to cause a distraction and pacify some of us.

If just was a way of fouling up Owner Operators who wanted to form a real union.

By the NATURE of their organization OOIDA is prohibited by law from organizing a strike? At least that's what I read somewhere.

THEY CAN stand behind our decisions but I believe if they did call for a strike and organize it they would no longer have their nice little building in Grain Valley. Just my groggy 2 cents worth.

Yeah we wouldn't want the OOIDA people to put their necks out for us. God forbid they should jeopardize their insurance business and publishing company for the sake of America's Owner Operators.

OOIDA claims 161,669 active members. Membership is $45 per year. That's $7,275,105 a year in dues collected.

WTF have they done for O/O's that cost them $7.2 million a year?

The benefits they offer can be had by going to the service providers themselves. Their accomplishments are, "We oppose this..." and "We are fighting for this..." and "We encourage lawmakers for...."

All this and what is actually being done? Nothing. Where is the "We eliminated IFTA..." or "We GOT a law passed that creates FULL DISCOLSURE from brokers..." or "We are buying fuel in bulk and giving our members a $0.50 discount from market prices at the pump...."

I don't see the justification in having an organization around which has done nothing further than create political revenue for themselves from the pockets of the O/O's whom they are supposed to represent.

OOIDA hasn't done anything to deserve my money. IMO, they're nothing more that media personalities who've gained undeserving celebrity status within the trucking community.
How long have they known the current fuel surcharge program was insufficient?
They have the opportunity to lead this industry in effecting "change" which could ultimately effect the whole country, and they choose not to.
I'd love to see every member pull its membership.

That sure sounds like it would send a wake-up call! Yes, because OOIDA is, in fact, a trade association, it is not allowed to call a strike. That's the rule.Betcha wish you'd known that before they got your $45.00 HUH?
