Ok so please forgive me for asking for clarification on a very clear response.... the 8 day 70 hr rule fully resets every 2 days im off? Even if I go over 70 in a 8 day period?
Thank u so much for the help -
If you start the 34 hour restart on Friday night at 7 pm, it has to have 2 periods of 1 to 5 am in it. So Sunday morning at 5 am you can now have 70 hours. You work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and now off for 2 days. You are not eligible for another restart until Friday at 7 pm even though you have been off for Thursday and Friday.hardworkinman Thanks this.

Is there a class you can take because I think there is no other way. Even with all this helpful information I am still not 100% clear on the whole issue

From what I understand, anytime one is off duty for a consecutive 34 hours, nothing that happened before it can be applied to after it. It's called a '34 Hour RESET' for a reason.
You can be on duty(on duty and driving) 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and never take a day off and never be inviolation.
You cannot accumulate more than 60 hours in any 7 consecutive days or 70 hours in any 8 consecutive days.
The regulations include an optional "restart" provision that allows you to restart your 60-hour and 70-hour clock after having at least 34 consecutive hours off duty and/or sleeper berth. -- J.J. KELLER STANDARD DAILY LOG Instruction Book.

These rules changed July 1, 2013
I would suggest you learn them quickly.

You can only do one reset every 168 hours. So basically one a week with a week inbetween.hardworkinman Thanks this.

YOU are so VERY wrong. You are eligible for a 34 Hour Restart anytime you take one. All you have to do is simply be off duty/sleeper berth for 34 consecutive hours ANYTIME. There is not "eligibility period". Just take one ANYTIME and it restarts the 60/70 hour clock.
EDTI to ADD: I offer an apology. I was very wrong.MJ1657 and hardworkinman Thank this.
