They didn't work any better 20 years ago, than they do today. Keep your money in your wallet and watch out for Bambi. But if you have to hit it, oh well. Better than swerving and losing control.

On the other hand, next time a trucker pisses you off at a truck stop, just apply Dominant Buck Aerosol Spray to his grill... :D :D :D

My personal experience. If I see the deer in time I use the air horn. Always works well for me. They turn and run.

What times I didn't use it they wait till I'm nearly to them and then run in front of the truck. I've hit two like this.

Had another one start running along in front of me still in the ditch. As I was expecting it to cut across in front of me I began to slow down......didn't use the horn but should have.....finally it ran across in front of me as I came to nearly a complete stop to avoid hitting it.

My advice "use the air horn if you have a chance"

I live in rural southern Missouri in the Ozarks. Lots of deer here.

Even if it did work....bambis eating in the field...hears a loud whistle...hes scared..stops eating and hauls ### across the road to escape the loud shrill!!! Alas only to get clobbered by a 2014 pete....the end......the only good deer is one already clobbered or one that walked in front of TTTD in deer season.:)

The deer catcher on my truck was $1100. Taken 3 deer with it so far and not a scratch. Worth every penny after the first deer hit caused over 10k in damages.

You have to run naked across the interstate to the other side and hope you don't get hit. If you hear a whistle it's the senior citizen bus headed to a bingo game. Don't stop what ever you do! :)
