my skinny, toothless, knobby kneed mother-in-law is diabetic. this causes her leg cramps. she wakes up at night with bad cramps. someone told her to sleep with a potato under her pillow, and she will not get cramps. she has been sleeping with this potato for months now, and claims she has no more cramps. i believe this confirms my belief all along that she is a psychopath. ever hear of sleeping with a potato?

Leg cramps have a tendency to ease with 800 IUs of Vitamin E a day as well.
She can try that, if she get's tired of sleeping with a potato. -
Potatoes have potassium IN them, maybe she's supposed to be eating them as well as bannanas, tomatoes, broccoli, and vitamin E (cybergal is so smart!)
I don't think they meant under the bed.
"Ann Landers suggests this "cure": put an unwrapped bar of soap under
the sheets so that the cramped leg rests upon it (the soap can be kept
in place by putting rubber bands around it and pinning the rubber
bands to the sheet). Although there is no apparent explanation for
this 'cure-all,' her readers swear that it really works."
Lots of home remedies out there!Judging by your description of her she is one of your most favorite person
I've never slept with a potato under the bed but I did have one in it..Had to divorce him when I quit carbs! -
I swallowed my cough drop on that one!

So sorry, replacement drops on the way!!

Just another example of mind over matter. Our mind is a wondrous thing.

Especially once you've lost it, lol. A potato under your pillow...yeash!

Ok it does make sense. potatoes are high in carbs, carbs turn to sugar, sugar screws up diabetics.
So by sleeping with the potato, she is not eating it, and as a result of not eating it, her sugar dosen't go as high, and she has less cramps.
Just curious, is it the same potato she started with? Ain't it getting kind of nasty? -
OK, that might make sense if she was like rubbing it on her skin or something. But it's under her pillow! How is she going to absorb any sugar that way? I just don't get it.
-
She isn't absorbing any sugar. She sleeps with her potatoes instead of eating them.
Potatoes are bad for diabetics, Diabetics have to limit their carbs
