Okay so I have a 1994 Kentucky Moving van based trailer. The problem I have is as soon as I touch my brakes the trailers brakes are acuating before the tractor, even when I pull the spike I pull it less then with other trailers. It does this with any truck as I have tried with severel. I am always getting the trailer hot and the tractor brakes arent even warm. No brake drag, Anythoughts?

    Thanks,

    Kyle

could be brakes adjusted to tight but would guess bad brake valve on trailer allowing full air instead of slow braking

Follow air lines from service side brake chamber to Valve under trailer it has a crack pressure built into it, parts book list it by part # diff.crack press have diff. #, your is bad and goes full pressure.

That's how they're designed to work. Most braking force is provided by the trailer. That way the vehicle is in a condition of "stretch" under braking, rather than "compression" where the oft much heavier trailer is pushing the tractor.

The information provided leads me to suspect you're braking too much.

Ha no not braking to much.... under no circumstance should my trailer brakes be smoking and my tractor stone cold. Last week I came off monteagle at 15 mph at 79, 000 lbs no jake as It was a peice of junk penske and by the bottom the trailer was smoking tractor not even hop same situation just not as extreme in my peterbilt becuase it has jakes. I have run toronto to Vancouver lots without a jake in my old 3406b and never had such problems.

old trailers had no LSV. So I'd idetify trailer brake system first and may be install LSV
