This past week there was an orientation class with about 10 drivers. If we have 600 drivers here and orientation every week where are all of our drivers going? If your husband does come here I hope he does well but there are going to be some paychecks where he only gets 1700 or less miles a week & maybe more than once a month at that. Hope you guys can live off of that kind of money.

Ok just was curious. Consistent miles seems to be an issue with most companies. Thanks for your input I will pass the info on to him.

Guess every company has its own "troll" Worked with Ozark for 10 plus years...the downside...lots of FedEx shorter overnight runs (370-660) miles with tight delivery windows, sometimes you get stuck with scrap paper runs again shorter miles but you do get $15 to 30 bucks for anything less than 300 miles. But you string two of those together and you have a decent day (just a little extra work). Lots of East Coast!
Upside...No NYC or Canada, 43 cpm with experience, great shop, home time (every two weeks or so), almost zero layovers (Dallas area the exception), light fedex loads, no pay issue in the ten years I was there, they will treat you with respect as long as youre respectful. When my mom was sick with cancer, they allowed me to work a week then be home a week for her chemo for almost 4 months! Not many companies anymore would do the right thing. They are one of the few remaining "family" companies. Not owned by a corporation but the original family members. Newer trucks (some old trailers) and newer trailers.
All in all it depends what is important to you. One of the best companies I have worked for... Good luck in your search and trust me finding a good one is difficult. Don't base your decision on my post or anyone else's .... because it will drive you crazy...talk to actual drivers !Maverick Griff, JustNva, copetheghost and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thank you for this post! Very informative, I've been looking hard at Ozark and my mind is clouded from everything I've read here. Ozark promises to get me home every weekend so that is tempting, as is TMC for the same reason. I really want to make a good decision this time around. I was under contract with FFE in 09, I went with them because they were the company that I found with the last negative reviews and add it turns out, that was the WORST mistake I ever made! And I researched the heck out of every company or there so this time I have really taken the time to read anything and everything about every single company I've seen. I'm taking a refresher now and will be done Thursday, I'd like to be in orientation next week, but that is not looking likely because I have no early idea which company I really want.

Robert...
I do know that Memphis area drivers can and are home most weekends...same with local area drivers at their other yards... Cant speak to the percentage of weekends off if you are not near a yard or major customer. They do have a few down your way (or did)... paper mill south of you in Alexandria?? FedEx in Shreveport, paper mill just south of Ruston, Bogaloosa to name a few...so again its possible but like anything anymore in this business its not a given lol -

Due diligence is a must in this business otherwise you will become a job hopper. Of my 20 plus years 18 was spent with two companies (granted back in the day it was different). Just do your research and remember opinions are just like backsides...everyone has one -
If I had known people would resort to insults I may not have said anything. What I told you is the truth. If you try Ozark I hope for the best for you and anyone else who comes here.
