There may be "other" ways, but this the way I know. To update the ECM calibration you need Insite PRO. I believe you can download Insite, or obtain it online or even through dealers or Cummins shops. You need a laptop or computer to install it on. The program you install on your computer will only be the "basic" version of Insite. In order to program an ECM calibration, our versions of Insite must be "PRO" versions. In order to unlock the Pro capabilities with in the program you must put in an authorization password. To get this password you have to pay Cummins for a subscription. I think is it around $600 for a year. With that you should also have free access to Cummins QuickServe Online where you can find and download the lastest and greatest ECM calibration for your engine. If you want to update your ECM with a different Calibration all together you must get another password from Cummins, and they are about $80 each per calibration. If you are not familiar with reprogramming ECMs, I highly recommend you do not start doing this all by yourself. This isn't something for a do-it-yourselfer. It is easier than you think to corrupt the programming and blank the ECM.

I talked to Cummins about this exact issue years ago when they brought the speed limiter tax in. They said they would sell it to me but I found a cheaper option. Tank what year is the truck?

after you login to insite, fill in content for engine serial number. click on service tab. below service information click on related information Calibration downloads is at the top of the list. your esn will already be in the top field fill in your calibration code example cl10134.33 you do not need .33. download zip file. You then must unzip the file to calibration workspace in insite. now you can connect to the ecm and recalibrate the ecm. if your already are connected to the ecm and try to unzip the file to calibration workspace it will not work. Also use the 3 pin connector above the intake to do calibration updates
