There are many companies that have and are making an investment in aerodynamic improvements to their trailers including side skirts, flo below, and trailer tails. Why are drivers not adding aerodynamic wheel caps to at least to their drives to compliment the mpg improvements gained by these trailer improvements?

Ok I will give you that. Still, if they help improve fuel mileage along with the investments being made in trailers why not use them? The only trucks I regularly see with them are Schneiders.

This is only rumor, I have not seen it myself. I was told from a mechanic for a fleet that tried them and they took them off. He said that they had shortened brake life and more brake problems due to them cutting out all the airflow that helps cool the brakes. Might be an issue if you run some long hills often.

I did some research on brake temperature variations with wheel caps. The testing information I have come across shows a 5% temperature increase over wheels without the caps.

Yes. I have seen them as well. Thanks for reminding me. But why would an o/o spend money to put aerodynamics on a trailer they own but not compliment the investment with wheel caps. We know there is fuel savings by using them. Certainly vanity isn't the issue when it comes to chrome?

I have looked at those. Have you added any aerodynamics to your trailer or do you pull for a company that uses aerodynamics on theirs?

the reason i got this set was by fmcas reg's part of your pre trip you much check your hubs for leaks and your lug nut's.... if you can't see thrugh the covers then by the reg's you must take them off everyday..... but with this set you don't have to take them off to check.... also i added their air lines so i can check the psi. without taking the covers off

can't do anything about the trailer it a company trailer.....
