I've been driving one for a month in a rental 386. It had right at 50K on it when I got it, almost 62K now. Trouble free, has used no oild. Fuel mileage is mediocre- 5.5 or so pulling a curtain van, my Columbia with a 515 HP 60 Series does closer to 6. It drives like a smog motor- weird, non-linear, slow throttle response but its abililty to get down to 1200 RPM & keep pulling is almost amazing. It doesn't seem to run very hot- the fan comes on less than my Detroit's. I have been driving it like I stole it & it hasn't hiccuped or thrown a code yet. It's very smooth, very quiet and very light, my tare weight is actually a few pounds less than my Freightshaker. I would really consider one of these in light of all the problems the ISX has had if I had to have a PACCAR product.

A friend of mine owned two T800 paccard power trucks he also has two T800 with cats and a 389 cummins power. He has sold the Paccar engine trucks because in the pass year they spent so much time in the shop for senors and no parts to get them out of the shop. Also breaking down on the road and the tow bills. He was going to lose his customers they had enough of his trucks breaking down all the time under load. He lost a ton of money in lost revenue while the truck was in the shop. Plus the 40000 lost of dumping these trucks at auction no one wants these engines. He got two new gliders this week.

I've had the exact opposite experience with my paccar engine. Does not use oil, no problems in almost 400k . Other than normal maintenance like dpf filter cleaning, def filter change ect. And overhead adjustment every 120-140,000 mi and oil changes every 40k been a very good engine. Cummins engine on the other hand are horrible with the cam problems and egr valves.

We have 5 of them where I work, and rarely are all 5 on the road at the same time. Continuous issues with egr delta pressure, and dpf issues. One truck is currently being bought back from the Kenworth dealer for being a lemon. Our Volvo's are the exact opposite, and have zero emissions issues, and have been great for us.

I don't own a truck, but after all the reading I've done on here it seems Paccar's, Volvo and cummins all have had a lot less problems since the 2013 model year.

I bought a 2013 Peterbilt with an MX-13, 400K miles. I have documented the nightmare I have been dealing with in another thread but thats another story (more than half the time in the shop).
Now I have learned yet ANOTHER thing about these junk engines. I have been going to the same oil change place (Danny's) in Phoenix for 15 years. A regular oil change for every truck that rolls in there is about $220 out the door. Not a Paccar of course, $390 !!! Proprietary filters!!! WHY PACCAR WHY? Why are they TRYING, begging people to NOT buy their engines? Why couldn't they use the same filters that every other manufacturer uses or at least charge a normal amount for filters? They won't allow Baldwin, or Wix to make filters and Paccar charges $40 for an oil filter!
