Ok hi beam here goes.....reefer rates this month are trending up and up hard i expect all time high rates this year if we see any economic improvement at all..,,
Now is the time to be working on a % too much money being left on the table a new truck note being supported by 90 cpm freight is not good business right now amazingly freight pays the same no matter how much you pay for that truck ....i,m not going to recomend anyone because i,m biased just because they make it easy dosen,t make the numbers right...,...last two weeks neither of my trucks have pulled anything under 2.35 a mile almost 1.85 to me thats all miles and that is leased on no way in hades jct,s benefits equal 50 cpm especially since they don,t pass through their fuel discount

His analogy is fine, your understanding of leasing is flawed.

Hertz doesn't front you gas money to run all over the country. That comes out of pocket.

The carrier you drive for has every right to refuse to finance a tour across the nation. If you want to pay cash to run all over, by all means feel free to do so. As long as you are using the carrier's fuel card, that carrier is providing you small business loans & they have a right to say how their investment is managed.

Bottom line: You can't demand to play by your own rules on the company's dime.

Do I understand you right ... If you are using the company fuel card, they have the defacto right to tell what loads to take and from there what route to take and from there where to fuel?

Hi bigdad7.. In my last post I was referring to what the other poster said... I also believe that there are other trucking companies that may offer a better deal...

When I was a owner operator, I also preferred % over the mileage rate... Never hauled Refer as an O/O but hauling
Refers was the first job I did as a company driver... I preferred open deck freight... Back in the 70's, we had to
unload the freight.. Still remember unloading birds-eye frozen foods in small boxes sitting on the floor..

I do think there are some that don't follow rates and prefer miles without worrying about fluctuation of rates, with
all miles covered as well as other bennies..

Everyone has to make up their own mind which company works for them, just hope they do their homework
if going into a lease or becoming a Owner Operator..

I don't know if JCT is a great company or not, never drove for them, I was just saying becoming a L/P may work
for some, especially with a walk-away lease... I do not recommend doing that with a bank loan...

Nice job trying to twist my words, but no.

You can turn down any load you like, just don't expect them to foot the bill to get you home when you want to be a prima donna, even though you do pay for the fuel in the end.

You bite any company in the ### enough and they'll stop caring what the hell you think you're entitled to.

If you want to play by your rules, pay your own bills.

Nope, stop cherry-picking. It's borderline trollish.

I don't understand how you can't grasp the concept that a lease operator is an independent contractor and makes his own decisions. When he goes home is one of those decisions. Look up the IRS definition of an independent contractor also known as being paid by 1099.

You put out the lame excuse that "the company fronts the fuel so they should call the shots." I'm sure some L/Os pay cash out of pocket for their fuel. Then what? Heck even actual owner operators use fuel cards and I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate being denied home time. I'm not trolling but pointing out inconsistencies and fallacies in your logic.

    LGarrison and drvrtech77 Thank this.

No, you're making assumptions and stuffing words in the mouths of other people (that don't exist, even).

    Huge difference.

Until you can show me an owner/operator that drives for JCT that has trouble getting home time, I'm through with this silly back & forth because it's just not worth my time.
