Many of us have done a "store load" out of the DC in Lewiston ME... you get one for the "privilege" of pulling a load into there. It's a load that hits 3 to 6 stores pulling a Walmart trailer, with a return to the DC... exactly what you'd be getting as a Prime driver dedicated to Walmart. Generally these loads are about 250 to 400 miles total, you bump dock, open the door, and the store crew shleps the freight off... close the door and get to the next stop. You have a drop dead time to be at each location. You can find the pay scale for this work (in between all the biotchin' from a former Schneider driver) here...

IMO, you'd do better running 48-state OTR. The usual approach by many outfits (including Prime) is to lower your pay a bit for the "privilege" of being home every night. One thing you might want to do is start out OTR, and get a taste for it. Then lobby your FM for a load out to the Lewiston, Maine DC. You'll get a store load before you're dispatched elsewhere, so you can get a taste of what that's like before you jump in the deep end.

Sorry it seemed like I was biotchin', I was in no way doing that. I was just stating the difference between the two. I really wanted to go with Prime. I liked them as a company as a whole better than I did Schneider. Plus Prime has APU's. The INS and the slip seating were really about the only negatives. I still have a few friends there that jumped to Prime. Most of them seem to be grossing around $1000 a week or more. But they also know how to work the account because they were at SNI the whole 15ish years SNI had it.
