I have the same exact problem but its only when the engine is cold it has a rough idle after it heats up its better. It was alot worse before but I changed the fuel transfer pump. It was also in test mode by the way. Can you let me know if they fix your problem.

Do you have any trouble starting it, as well? If so, have a test run for injector leaks.

Put truck in the shop last week and they finally got to workin on it this week, but that's another story... anyway... They're telling me that everything tests good and the actuator moves freely but the VGT codes indicate replacing the actuator control. Any input???

Now they install new actuator and say so sorry the actuator ring is sticking and is really not opening all the way - you need a new turbo. Price - about $5,000 parts and labor. I ask will this solve my problems - surging at idle and poor fuel mileage? We don't know...

What shop did you take it to? Turbo is around 2k so labor is 3k?

Kenworth. They were the only shop that said they could Get on it the next day. They finally did 7 days later. Turbo is $3100, actuator $900, labor $700 plus taxes. There is a brand new turbo with actuator on EBay for $2500 including shipping. Thinking of paying labor and pulling truck out of shop, buying EBay turbo and installing. Will save a grand but lose 2 -3 extra days. My biggest obstacle is getting willing to throw more money into this pit never to be seen again and still have the same problem when I'm finished. I feel like Wyley Coyote trying to kill the Roadrunner...

Did you ever tried getting your truck to a good Cummins dealer? They have more knowledge in diagnostics then truck maker dealerships. You don't have any extended warranty left I take it? Btw, did you ever check your fuelling/timing actuators?

I've owned this truck for a year and it's never been right. I'm running Rawze's tune. My local Cummins dealer (Orlando) reminds me of the three stooges.
