Sorry to be the negitive one here but starter,alternator water pump air, ac compressor, radiator, ac condenser and air charge cooler are not safety items and their replacement doesn't mean that if they fail, you have an issue with stopping or running into something or worst yet, hurting someone.

See learning is great, asking questions is great too and even better is paying the shop to fix it while you watch and learn and are asking about how to do it. Torquing down lug nuts or reusing seals are basic mechanics 101 and it is where I think this is best left to the person who can bare the responsibility to do it right instead of taking a chance to screw it up.

 

What is there to screw up? If you don't torque the lugs right enough it's not like they are gonna fall of in the first mile. Toss the breaker bar and pipe in the side box and hit then again thirty miles down the road. If those dumb monkeys with practically zero training at the ta can manage, I'm sure anyone can.
