I'm not scared. I'll drop names. The guy's name was David. Pretty decent fella, but he sure could drop a line of crap....

68 years in business should say it all!.... but if not, keep researching.... and you will find a lot more "great remarks" than "bad" ones about this one! This industry needs more recruiters like him with his "tell it like it is" attitude, and less blogers that beat up on companies they did not even work for. I think Colonial and their recruiter is the real deal...... just like the time piece!

I'll bet you do,
enjoy !!! -
So this company is the only one with a bad driver. Better do more research, all companies have their share. You can't judge an entire company by one driver. I know when my husband applied there, they do not take anyone with felonies or DUI's. Most companies do...

Sounds like every trucking company out there is sorry as hell. I'm writing their names on paper and dropping them in a bag, shacking it up and pulling a name. it's apparent they all suck from reading these threads.

Colonial Freight Systems is an o/o company. I called Colonial and asked them about their l/p plan. The payments for everything (insurance, plates etc.) is $753.00 per week for an 2009 Volvo. The lease runs anywhere from six months to three years depending on the year model and the mileage. At the end of the lease you have the option to turn this truck in for a new truck or buy it. How much I don't know. I called OOIDA compliance office and asked them about Colonial Freight Systems. Jerry stated that they have not had any complaints about Colonial Freight. However they have had a lot of complaints about the l/p plans out there by other companies and no names were mentioned. Jerry said he recommended staying away from l/p plans and that the complanits were about the companies cutting their miles back causing the driver to lose his truck. I asked Colonial Freight for a copy of the lease agreement so I could have Jerry (OOID compliance officer) to look at the with lease agreement. Colonial Freight refused to give give me a copy of the l/p plan.
Jerry also stated that OOIDA would like to hear the good about the l/p plans as well as the bad. THANK YOU OOIDA and you to JERRY!! -

I am only going to say this about them not wanting to release the contract. Stay away if they don't want you to take that contract to an attorney there are some hidden issues somewhere. You should have the right to have that contract reviewed for legal advise -
Well I am here in Knoxville now going through orientation, got DOT physical this morning then to lunch then to headquarters to start paper work. I am a newbie with only 16 months OTR I was looking for a driving job that would get me home weekends at least when I ran into their ad. Recruiter said I could haul bananas out of a port in TX up to IN then return with a Tyson load to the port. It paid good and would get me home in Conway, AR for weekends. I also asked if I could take the tractor home, but would have to unhook and put a king pin lock on in a safe place and was told yes I could. So I came up on a bus to find out today that NO I couldn't unhook from trailer at all! And the banana run was out of Gulf Port, MS to IN and that doesn't go through Conway, AR!!! Not happy and don't know what to do? Wondering if they will get me a bus ticket back home at this point? I don't like to be lied to by anyone, and didn't have the time to waist!
