The closest I've ever seen was the result of a ride along in the Seattle area by the WSP, riding in the cab of a semi running I-5 through downtown Seattle. If I recall correctly they issued 225 citations, of which about 35 were issued to truckers and the balance were issued to 4 wheelers. A very high percentage of the tickets were for reckless driving (tailgating and cutting in front of the semi). This was a one week effort. Would be nice to see this kind of thing as an ongoing campaign.

Think how many more texting tickets there would be.

It would be best if they would spend that ticket money on public service announcements and signage noting they are strictly enforcing tail gating and noting that cutting in front of another vehicle too closely is equivalent to reckless driving. Soon enough with the messages and folks getting tickets behavior might be modified.
