    You are worried about what?

    Crime?

Really with the new Detroit, in the shadows of the new GM, you have nothing to worry about.

Get your CDL, TAKE THE JOB. At your age, you can live without much in the way of benefits for a while. It will give you commercial driving experience. You might or might not have to get some formal training on down the road, but if this is available now, jump on it!

Sounds like a good gig to me. Personally I'd take OTR reefer pulling than driving a 80K zippo, but I'm crazy. The tanker and hazmat experience is good for down the road when you want better benefits. And most folks prefer being home everyday.

As much and as long as it takes for him to feel i am able to do it on my own. I transload jet fuel from truck to rail right now so i dont think the training will be to long

To each his own, but I wouldn't take the job even for $50.00 an hour. It comes down to personal choice and job satisfaction; for me that's running coast-to-coast. You know what you really want to do and that's OTR; you let that be known in your opening post. I turned down a job delivering diesel to the rail yard to fuel freight train engines and didn't care what anyone thought of it. Do you really want to rumble through the streets of Detroit delivering gas year after year? Some love that routine and some, like me, would be miserable.
