I'm through Denver fairly often and have not had that problem.
They do often throw in a short local load to get something delivered, but usually have something much better after that.

I HONESTLY thinks it my own doing, let me explain.

A couple months ago I had "words" with the Denver terminal manager. I called to complain about one of his planners changing my PTA without my knowledge/permission. All he (the term mgr) wanted to do was defend his people and tell me I didn't have any proof. Very long story short, he called back to appologize as he found out that one of his planners did indeed change my PTA. I also appologized for my unprofessionalism (on the phone) but since then things have been "dicey" nearly every time I get near Denver.

That said Denver has some planners who cannot seem to read and UNDERSTAND the reason for turning down a load. They actually got mad (and sent me a nastygram) when I turned down a load with 326 MT miles and no delivery time.

If I were in your shoes I'd take that 326 mile load in a heartbeat, start rolling, and bug CSR through your DM to start contacting the customer to let them know I'm rocking' and rollin' and can get there within 7-8 hours (depending on traffic and direction). Like Moosetek noted, Denver operates by giving a short load in order to snag a long one, often involved when you need an empty.

Mira Loma (now Jurupa Valley) does this in order to get out of the LA area... you got to deliver one t=call run in the LA basin in order to have your empty. Then you get the drop and hook with 1800 miles on it to the Midwest.

Rather than turn down a load on Mac-9 I'll take it "as is" if I know the real windows. Just call your DM and ask. Most times the DM has a lot more background information on the load than the tidbits they can give you within the confines of the Quallcomm template. Real shipping windows ... "Oh, you can drop that any time 24/7" ... vs... "Receiving closes at 15:00"... most helpful if you are at the terminal and go in and talk to the folks.

Anybody know what the best way to get a slight pay increase with Swift besides going L/O? This . 30pm thing is killing me!

got a load that picks up here at the yard going to modesto ca for a 04/11 2100 delivery.guy at window said theres a problem with the weights. the original driver had a legal scale tix(11400,33180,32660 77240). the other guy who was going to take this trip was not (11700,35500,33300.80580) i weighed it using yard scale and it was 11760,34460,33440. so i'll head to pilot in the morning and get it reweighed and see what i get. i can move 500 lbs to steers if i have too. have half tank of fuel rite now

If I were a company driver I would have taken it in a second. Swift only pays me $.81 per mile to run MT. I'd go broke if I took many loads with kind of MT miles.

I wonder if that legal ticket came from a day cab.
