Not as bad as I hate Denver planners at the moment. Turned down a load last night rather than go back (to Denver) before home time.

And I would argue that it's not the planners fault that a pre-loaded trailer isn't ready. I'm waiting at a shipper for my pre-loaded trailer and it was supposed to be ready an hour ago.
-
They show that shipper as JIT, but more than likely there is a window on the delivery.
-
1300 was the latest delivery on the window. A person could show up at 1700 to pick up the load and still not make it by 1300. The window for pu was 1030 to 2359. Why would you have a 2359 window with a 1300 del. To get it there on time, you would have to average 60 the whole way, and the way that Swift has the load routed, never would happen. Back up 78 to Memphis then 40 to 30 to Texarkana and then US59 all the way to Houston.

got the window fix finally around 1430. got a load p/u at flagler co tomorrow at 1100 going to salem or that can be there between 04/12 1100 to 04/13 1100. decided to get to flying j in limon co for the nite so i miss most of mornimng traffic.

+1 on the dedicated route. Swift has been very aggressive going after Target and Walmart accounts, and quite a few of them are short handed. However, not all of them pay a premium. Some pay linehaul (what you get for OTR). The up side is that the miles are consistent; no sitting around for a few days wondering when you'll get your next load. The down side is that you do a LOT more city driving than you do on OTR, and you do get tired of seeing the same stretch of road every day.
It's certainly an option worth checking into. I've heard that Target Grocery (pull reefers) is hiring in Texas. -
t
That's what I want to get on actually but I may have an issue getting on since I live in El Paso but I am going to get with the DL and see how we can make it happen. -
Sitting in Matteson IL at a Walmart and shut down with 2 seconds left on the 11.
Got two ppls first from Romeoville and going to Mount Vernon then Neelys, MO to Tyler, TX.
The crazy thing is on the first one I have to pickup by noon and deliver by 2200...on a 266 mile trip! Hopefully I can deliver early because that a lot of time sitting under a load for that distance. -
My home is three hours from the DC, and the closest store we service is halfway there. I take a 10 at home every 2-3 weeks.
We have one person here whose home is ~500 miles away. They go home every 6-8 weeks.
You can make it work if you want it. -
Or pick up later if it is pre-loaded?
If it's a live unload there may not be the option. But if it is either pre-loaded at the shipper or a live load with a window you can work your hours better.
But you said 'deliver by 2200', so, is there a delivery window?
