i just called and talked with a woman recruiter, can't remember her name and she said if that speeding ticket was all I had on my record no problem they would hire me.
$19 a month for my wife to ride along or anyone I guess.

just need to get my CDL and dot physical

she said the trucks are nice an pretty well loaded with accessories. Sounds pretty good for someone with no experience.

Good morning everyone. honeybadger I am glad you found Supervalu with no problem. passport, several times over the years the King was privileged to be able to deliver overages to churches and shelters for women and children. We felt the same way that you did .....it always makes you feel good to be able to do something like that. :biggrin_25519:

When my husband started with TransAm he just told them that he didn't know enough about being a driver to even consider leasing a truck. That he would look at it six months down the road. From what the new drivers are saying they seem to be pushing the lease harder than what they used to. You have to ask yourself why? If they are pushing you to lease is it for your benefit or THEIRS? (honeybadger, you don't count in this because you have your own agenda ......and are a special kind of stubborn! :yes2557:) I am sitting here trying to think of what I need to say and the truth is that it has all been said before many, many times. It is a simple matter of math and the ability to make a living and have a life at the same time. In order to be an OTR driver you are going to make sacrifices.....lease or company....so it all boils down to what sacrifices you are willing to make. For us, having an income, home time, insurance benefits and vacation time were the priorities. Being a company driver with TransAm fulfilled those priorities.

ajacks, are you and gamma going to get your health insurance through TransAm? It is not the best of policies but it does pay what it is supposed to with no hassles. I never had any problems with them. It is reasonably priced and actually the premiums have gone down every year for the last 4 years.

dennisroc, I really don't know who you could email to ask about your ticket. Maybe one of the recruiters? Does anyone have an email address for their recruiter? The trucks are "cleaned" before they are issued to you ....but normally not to your standards. I think everyone does their own cleaning and disinfecting once they get their truck ....just because. They are quite nice and suitable for your wife to ride along with you.

:biggrin_2559:..... oops, I took too long to type today .....not enough coffee!
I am glad that you were able to talk with someone and that they could reassure you, dennisroc.

They have gone up on the insurance for someone to ride along with you ......but you have to remember my husband was there a long time ago. From $10 a month to $19 isn't too bad considering that nearly everything has gone up in that span of time.

Yes $19 is ok for a rider no problem.
I asked her about a accredited school and she said it just had to be 160 hours and I told her the school I checked was only 154 hours so she said hold on and she checked with someone and said it just needs to be 120 hours.

Sounds like the trucks are pretty well furnished.

I wrote down everything that I was going to ask and as soon as I hung up I remembered I wanted to ask what endorsements I needed. Do they do Hazmat, I was thinking about getting them all.

i guess I can go to any DOT doc and get a Physical

He is, it's cheaper for me and kids to stay where we are right now, anymore have any kind of coverage that doesn't cost half the paycheck is kind of a blessing lol!

I think the lease/company choice is, do your OWN math, don't listen to theirs, they are trained to talk people into this lol and are good from what hubby tells me lol. From what I've seen, if you need the paycheck, go company.

    HometimeQueen Thanks this.

You are on your way gamma! You and Waynetp stay strong .....you will be in your own truck before you know it!

dennisroc, you won't need Hazmat for TransAm and you can always get your endorsements later if you need them ....but I think it is probably easier to get them fresh from school.

ajacks121712, gamma and dennisroc Thank this.
