I know someone on here recent went through what I'm about to post and even posted pic of it but I couldn't find it ...
I loaded a load this week that was 80 drums. 4 drums per pallet at 20 pallets .
They were banded both around 2 times per set of drums. And they were also plastic wrapped very well.
I only put 1 strap every other set ..So I put a strap on each pallet. Thankfully I had to tarp them so I at least wouldn't get the looks of hauling unsecured freight down the road.
I tried looking online about the WLL of steel banding but, couldn't find it. I did see where if the WLL wasn't on the steel banding that it would revert back to something but I couldn't find that something Anyone know ..????

I would be surprised if steel banding is considered a securement device. My bet is banding does not count for anything and as much of it I have seen let go, I would not trust it.

steel strapping
1-1/4 by 0.029 = 1,190 WLL
1- 1/4 by 0.044 = 1,690 WLL
only if marked. if not marked then 25 % of WLL
also must use 2(two) pairs of crimps seal and , when an end over end lap joint is formed, must be sealed with at least two sealsThe Admiral Thanks this. -

Myself....I use Vee-Boards on the drums...Sides...Front and....Back...
Then strap them down.....
The objective is....To keep them secured no matter what... -
Btw....Can straps and bands meet the following criteria?

Amazing....Not one video of proper securement of steel drums....

Strapping would only be considered securement if it is attached to the trailer. Not around the drums. As working class said v boards are the best way to go.
Working Class Patriot Thanks this.
