One of the most important things that needs to change in our industry is shippers and receivers need to be held accountable for detention times. As long as you have one ##### house mega carrier willing to wait around all day and not bill detention time, you will have the other ##### house Mega's doing the same thing. If you sit down and think about it, detention time is the biggest thing that can kill having a good week except for breakdowns or wrecks. If we could drive 11 hours a day we should all be able to make a good living. But if half your 14 hours on duty is uncompensated detention time the only way you can make up for that is running outlaw style. with more and more Mega's pushing these lease purchases they can make their profit being truck dealers, with less emphasis on per mile profit. Once that insurance , maintenence, and truck expense are paid for, why should they care if the driver makes any money. If recent history has proven anything, it's that no matter how many drivers they burn and turn away there is always another body to fill their seat. The industry is the industries biggest roadblock, and drivers can be there own worst enemy as well. Unfortunately we live in a time and society where we will never unite and put our collective foot down because there will always be a large number of people who will roll over and take it cause the bills are do. Without trucks and drivers, the nation stops, the economy stops, everything stops. One day maybe we will all be determined enough to use that to our advantage.

So far the numders are showing approx 13 hours " on duty " have been used in the current 7 day window .

This is taken directly from the onboard E log system .

During this 7 day period approx 2600 miles were turned ( paid miles as opposed to what the screen actually shows)

Other than a few exceptions , this is about average where I work

Not sure what to make of it , if anything , at this point
