I have been laid off due to aggressive driving. My last ticket was 3/12/11 so Im good there. My problem is a so called preventable that Swift gave me in Nov of 11. I was committed to a blind back. I was moving my trailer around a parked trlr when my open rear door on the passenger side came loose and hit the air fitting on the parked trlr. All it did was loosen the fitting. Several minutes after that a driver hooked on to this trailer and took off. Being a honest guy I called it in. The insurance sent Swift a bill for 300.00.
My question is was this a recordable preventable. There was no one called, no injury. I am trying to get a job and cant until Nov of 14 due to this.

Yes it's considered a preventable and will stick with you for awhile.
-
It's a preventable for not making sure trl door was latched on top and bottom. There could have been some serious consequesnces had it been real windy that day and that's what companies look at to determine whether its a preventable or not.Did Swift fire you or did you quit if you don't mind me asking?
-
Children, children of course it was preventable. You say that it was not properly secured because the wind blew it off. You could have prevented that. What you can claim is that it was not an accident, it was an act of God. But you called it in. So you have admitted that something happened and you were responsible. Stick with that story. Swift isn't the only company out there. 1 Dac report will not stop you from getting hire elsewhere. Just full admit what happen and point out that you will never make the same mistake again.
pattyj Thanks this. -
You say that other companies may hire. Can you give me a couple of names of companies that may talk about this preventable and listen when I tell them that I have learned my lesson. I absolutely love driving and just need another chance.

I was fired

its not the minor accident. It's the combination of things that may be over looked it on their own. you've mentioned three. Aggressive driving, that's a big big big no no. An easily preventable accident. And you got fired from a bottom feeder. Swift won't fire a guy for one minor accident. It takes a pattern of negligent behavior to get fired from a bottom feeder litre swift. Taken as singular items, you may get another chance. Taken as a whole picture, I wouldn't hire you. Tho someone probably will, likely another bottom feeder mega carrier.

Wait , you were fired for that ?
The door came lose , swung and hit something ( yes could have been prevented )
but dam fired over that , a $300 accident ?
So wonder what they do to all their drivers that back into people at truck stops ? Lol
