I'm asking this question for a friend of mine. I have already decided on my two Gliders but my friend wants to know what New Engines are do the best job today with all the EPA crap today. I don't think he cares to muck for the Macks. He doesn't want a glider because he runs Ca certain times a year. Thanks for your suggestions I will pass them on.

They all have their sheer amount of DPF related issues. So far I heard lesser complains from the Volvo D13 motor, then the Detroit DD15 following it and ISX taking the last place, being the most problematic with emission stuff. Big plus of Volvo D13 if paired to I-Shift transmission, is the weight savings you get from that combo. It's around 500-600lb. lighter then ISX paired to Eaton box, so you get much lighter front end and overall weight of your truck. If I would pick my next truck for on hwy application, it'll most probably be the Volvo with D13 engine 500HP/1850TQ. You can have good luck with any of them, or none at all.
