I am on Line Haul right now. I am home almost every weekend. I used to be on Long Haul and enjoyed it much more. Less work, greater pay and I got to see more of the country. You can get home every two weeks if you wanted to, I stayed out three weeks at a time. Usually, you will get two days off, though if you were out longer than two weeks make sure you let your Fleet Manager know if you expect more time off. I did regularly. Once, after being out four weeks, I had three days off, I didn't get everything done that I needed and told my FM I needed another day off and it wasn't a problem. Hopefully, you will get a FM that understands what you are going through and will work with you. At the same time remember freight has to move. Don't abuse the system.

I have not had turbo problems, but each service they have replaced the flexible exhaust connector on the at the turbo since it keeps cracking. It lasts about 15000 miles.

My TMC Peterbilt 379 was manufactured in May of 2006. Last night on my way home I crossed 222222 on the odometer. That makes over 150,000 miles for me between two trucks in 15 solo months, so I am averaging 10,000 miles per month.

I am now dedicated earning $900 salary per week, and home for a 2 to 2.5 day weekend, it will probably be shorter once business picks up.

The good you hear about TMC is from those drivers who seem to make their experience with TMC work. They work hard within the rules and realize no one is out to get them.

The bad you hear about TMC is from those who did not succeed with TMC and wish to blame anyone but themselves for their failures.

Your experience with any company depends, primarily, upon your attitude.

TMC is not run like the military. I was in the military for 18 years and I think I might be qualified to voice my opinion.

As far as 20 students arriving at orrientation and only 10 hired I have no idea what the numbers really are. I would think they retain higher numbers than that. You have a mix of students failing the DOT Physical, Drug Test or Stupid Test. Many will quit within the first year because driving is not what they expected.

I cannot comment on Werner because I have never worked for them. I see what is posted on the internet, I also see what is posted about TMC and realize most of the negative is wrong. Not that I am saying TMC is a perfect company. I do think the positive about TMC far out weighs the negative. Like I said, how you handle your situation and circumstance will determine whether you succeed or fail. It is all on you.

My rhetorical response to all these questions is, are you going to believe all the drivers succeeding or are you going to believe a bunch of loosers?

My best advice for a new driver is don't hang out with those drivers that are complaining about some of the pettiest things, saying they are going to quit because things didn't go the way they wanted it to go. There are always that 10% Just get on with the job and be a professional.

When do we do the road test for them? Before we go on the road or after our training.

    Please advise
