This is not a Covenant load it is a new Solutions load and the reason they are asking for tracking is because my group in Solutions is the only one that can look at the Qualcomm. The people at Solutions don't have access to the asset side the way we do. And frankly they don't want it because it is just a new system that have to learn.
So they have Macro Point because that is what we use when we broker and it just makes it easy for everyone. On the weekends Solutions just has one person and we have one person. The customer requires updates every hour. So in order for them to track it we have to remember to go and look it up and that likely isn't happening or they call us. That ties up to people when they can just set-up Macro Point and the customer gets updated hourly and no one has to make calls.
I am not the type of person to make calls or argue with O/O's about besiness decesions they make. I have along standing policy that you own your business and if this is something you don't want to do then you don't have haul freight for this customer or the others that require this level of tracking.
I am hoping that at some point we will get the Qualcomm access and this isn't an issue.Scott50 and Pound Puppy Thank this. -
We should have discussed this prior to the booking of the load, along with what the rate was. If it is not explained to me then how do i make an educated decision, the solutions guy had no answers to my questions.
This is the first time in seven years as an O/O this has ever come up. Other customers i can understand. Covenant, i pay for this box so i can be tracked. Now that i know why they need it, it makes sense and I can do what is neccesary. -
Bill i sent you an email.

I don't see any issues about macropoint...i don't really care about it. You can easily turn it off after load is done.

I had to run on last Sunday with macro point. I got there, called the number and cancelled it. That said, Tom explained it to me before hand.
-
And because we pay for Macropoint by the day we don't have it activated for any longer than is needed. So if you forget to cancel it will stop after the set time. Normally 24-hours. And because I get the hourly email updates for every truck that is running I have ZERO interest in keeping it on longer than possible. Nothing like having hundreds of messages in your email when you get up.
However, I did think of a way that we can keep the Solutions drivers off of Macro Point. Covenant has an option to allow customer to check on loads online. I am checking to see if we can use that. It would save us money. I am going to test it out this week and see if that is a solution.Scott50, Pound Puppy, Ukumfe and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well. Looks like I get an extra night home at this point. Dispatcher told me he had 20+ bids fail today. At least I'm home and can get an extra night with my wife and daughter. Was hoping for a 4 day week but I'll take a 3 day if it is what's available.

What has happened to the freight Bill? I know I'm in a fairly good area. Start of quarter jitters?
