Is Alliance/OO slowly drifting towards force dispatch or something?
-
what do you mean drifting towards forced dispatch? They have always been take the load, or sit for 3 or 4 days... not forced technically, but the consequences of turning down a load are not worth turning down the load.
-
It's rare that an O/O turns down a load. They know the planners, the planners know them....
There are a reasonable amount of L/O in the same boat...been there a while and have their routines down.
And before someone cries, "Favorite!", keep in mind these O/O's do their job, get it delivered and don't cry because they are sent to NYC.
Had three trucks tonight shut down 31 miles or less from their final. All had the hours, all could do the job without issue. But they all got 'sick'.
To teach us for giving them a load where they didn't want.
Now if you were a planner, who would you make sure is happy?Corporal_Clegg Thanks this. -
Hey Emul what's it take to make sure a load is rescheduled? I sent in my running late and my trip plan and my DM knew but nothing happened.
-
rescheduling of a load is not as simple as pick up a phone, call the receiver, and change the appointment. Everything is done via computers, databases.
And many times the reciever will take the load when you get there, just get there in a safe and timely manner, but nobody tells the driver. -
I got there about 12 hours late. They said they couldn't fix me in till Monday so I called my DM and he told me to drive 150 miles home. Then take it back Monday morning. Then go back home lol.
Corporal_Clegg Thanks this. -
Ive been here close to 4 years now and have only ever refused 1 load. It was a pickup in Brooklyn and I dont go there lol. Had another load within 20 minutes.
-
Not a happy girl right now, through no ones fault but my own. Little backstory here....himself has been sick for a minute with a wicked chest cold, so ive been doing the bulk of the driving. Have had a couple of loads with a lot of extra time on em, so have been meandering across the country, stopping when time allowed for him to sleep without the truck rolling, and getting him a room when i could. Havent been late, DM aware we are moving slow cuz himself is feeling bad.
To this load now...picked up 4/10 in NJ for deliver in Utah 4/14. Instead of running it out, and without looking at anything more than radar, stopped 1200 miles out from final to reset my hours (down to 9) and sure, based on radar and his performance after getting solid rest that we would again be early to the final. Wrong.
Rain and wind in Iowa, no big. Wintry mix in Nebraska, ok slow down but still plenty of time. Road closed in Nebraska, still no worries, detour and keep rollin. Weather not bad, we both felt safe to continue carefully.
Wyoming....the whole dang thing is shut down. No detours. No take backs. Sit here til its open.
Now on weather shutdown and all because I took a 34 too far out instead of pushing the clock. Because I didnt check the forecast and only looked at radar. Because southern girl shamefully believes that ice and snow stop happening the day before spring arrives.
Lessons learned are as follows: dont sit til yer hind end is close enough to the receiver to make on time even in an apocalyptic event. Check the dadgum forecast. Push that clock til it screams for mercy.
I thought I knew the road ahead. I thought I had time. Lucky for me these were not lessons learned in a ditch.
Hi from Sapp Brothers Cheyenne. Wyoming got meh! -
Nice easy spring snow storm across wyoming... and it shut down I80.... and since the state is so wide open, there is no detour to take, unless you go completely around the state...Heavy wet snow, April is the wettest month, mostly snow, with May a close second, more snow than rain. We had winter storm warnings posted as early as wednesday for this past weekend storm.
Our spring is white and wet, but the nice thing is, it melts quickly.
