I feel you driver...it's all about the money. Not sure why these good business people can't just get a good rate without rushing all the time.

Thankfully I dont have to get 9mpg to make a good living. But at an average of 100k lbs and oversize, I'd love to see it.
Speed doesn't make too big a difference to me when I am loaded, just like the plastic aero trucks get no better than my big Western Star with the same load. Been there, done it, had a very surprised Cascadia driver at the end of it. Wind on the other hand, can make of break my fuel mileage. It takes a lot of boost to get it down the road regardless, so another 5mph makes no odds. I have run it both ways, no difference to speak of.
When I am empty, if I have the time, I will cruise along at 65-68mph and get my 8.3MPG. Mind, being 43,000 empty is like some guys with half a load on, so not too bad I dont think.
As far as other trucks going fast, I could care less. I wouldn't want to be stuck behind me climbing a hill neither! Now the idiots like Prime that run 55mph on a 70-75mph 2 lane road, they ARE a danger to everyone around them.
Run slow, but have some courtesy and common sense when doing it. That seems to be the most lacking thing anymore.
my truck is "governed" at 97mph by the way.

OK well anyway, someone else can correct me if I am wrong but I don't think you are credited for your fuel....it's a deduction like you said therefore you don't get it all back. You're only getting probably 15%-40% of it back depending on what your tax rate is.
Simply put, you're spending an extra dollar to save thirty cents in tax. Which is fine if that dollar makes you more than thirty cents.baha Thanks this. -
I never rush for anything unless you gotta poop, then you can rush.Rooster1291979 and Naptown Thank this.

It is all about the money, and I'm paid well to be in a rush, I don't know why so many of you think that one size fits all, and that anyone who drives faster is going broke, but, whatever, my rates more than make up for less than stellar fuel mileage... I guess when your used to cheap freight rates that is a hard concept to grasp...
-
Clearly saying I'm driving 75.... I think you have to read to be a truck driver or is that bs too?
-
Just like your house or car...u mean to tell me for peace and quiet and security you not willing to come off a little money?
-
Just to be clear, you're talking about simply rushing to the can, right? Because the act of busting a stinky should in itself never be rushed.
