Yeppers, ive been there also. A place called Hunts Point. What a S---Hole. Nowadays some companies even offer more pay for drivers to go to NYC. Im about to pay the 85.00 to get my TSA card. wonder if prime pays extra for HazMat loads. Guess i'll find out. Boston was cool never had problems there. Then again everything has changed over the last ten yrs. I found that the best load you can get. Is baby carrots from Grimmway farms in Bakersfield,ca to southern NJ. Now that's a trip.

I took a trailer to the Staten Island Target store a few days ago. I think we should get combat pay.

More the same here, but when numbers click the right way, you'd better believe I'll make that run. If I were paid mileage, that incentive might not exist, but when I was OTR, being paid percentage of gross to the truck, and well assured that I wouldn't have to go far to get the next one, oh yeah... there were times I was pretty much begging the boss man to let me take them. Fortunately, he trusted my judgment, and we all came out ahead on those loads.

That's like asking what is worst being run over by a freight train or a passenger train

Well I'm in my third week of training here at Swift and it's horrible I have nothing really good to say about the training so far. The "classroom" time is next to useless, you have to sit in a classroom for 11 or 12 hours and listen to the instructor talk about himself, sit there and ######## with other students, you only get about 2 hours of useful knowledge out of it. The range where you work on your skills is a joke they have like 10 or 12 junk trucks that leak air badly for 50ish students, 2 instructors which is not nearly enough for the type of students they bring. I'm on road training now and it's 12 hour days or more and in the past 4 days I got barely 4 hours of drive time the rest was in the back sitting in the sleeper holding on for dear life while some dumb ### girl was driving because apparently she needed more work... well she ran over a stop sign today and is out so that was a waste of time... Not to mention the crappy hotel they make us stay in.

The school is just to get you enough to pass your tests to get a CDL... the real training begins afterwards. Grin and bear it.. you'll get through this.

I was helping a co worker find a company earlier this year. He was thinking of Stevens until he saw a YouTube of the living conditions at their training facility in CO. He signed with someone else. I don't know why companies think borderline unsafe living conditions will give them better employees!
