Have not been on I-80 in ca. Been thru vail with tnt trainer, have not been thru there solo. I don't think I will get out that way at all because my fm says the loads don't pay as much out west than in the east. I have asked him to send me that way, he wont do it. farthest west I go is id,wy,ne,ut. and ca, I-10 area once and the others maybe once or twice.

The engine brake on these newer motors work alot better at higher rpms, higher rpms than people would imagine. Heck, the DD15 doesn't start working well till 1800 and can sustain 2200 rpm. I'm not trying to say people should go faster, it's just something to keep in mind when you are more familiar with the truck and hill you are going down.
I don't know what version they are using in the LW prostar but I'd want to find out if I was driving one.

Oops.......

What that means is drop into 9th or 8th, and ride the hill down at higher RPMs where the Jake is effective.

No issues with the truck, however its already been in the shop for a problem with the apu. That was fixed but now the bunk heater doesn't work and only blows cold air. Also the inverter shuts off whenever the truck or apu is running. Shows a code of OCP which I assume means over current protection. Anyone know how to fix that?

Yep. thats about where I was always at for the max on the Jake for downhill. Always held me back

You could try unplugging the bunk heater, it might reset.Evl1 Thanks this.

The biggest problem with bunk heaters is drivers who don't turn them off before starting the truck. If you don't let the bunk heater burn off that last bit of fuel, cycle down to off, it gums it up.
heater works over time the next time the truck is turned off to burn that fuel rather than start up gradually as it was designed.
ask the shop guys.Evl1 Thanks this.
