While I can agree with your business plan, and the execution of it. I can not agree with the thread. I've read most of it.
And, I detest OOIDA and what it implies it stands for.
OOIDA, can not "support" nor can they call for a shutdown. Unless they want a lengthy jail term.
Like all good political groups. They will rely on others to do the footwork, and take your membership fees. Then stand proudly beside you, after the battles are fought. And ask for more money to continue the good fight.
What use do I have for a group that is willing to lobby for such a small segment of the overall picture. I understand that many of the things they do are good. But, they are missing a larger picture.
The silence is deafening in Missouri.
What did YOU do?

You are entitled to your own opinion.... I just can't belive I was baiscally called stupid for having a business plan and not flying by the seat of my pants.
-
And, I did not call you that. I happen to agree with you.
But, I was explaining WHY OOIDA won't support the strike. And why I won't support them
No disrespect intended for you in the least.
-
Oh no, I wasn't talking about you! I was sayuing you are entitled to your own opion on OOIDA. I know you didn't disaggree with my business plan, I was saying I can't belive the other guy on the other post would actually call me stupid for having a buisness plan...
Sorry for the confusion -
I haven't read that particular comment. But that tells me what he thinks of me LOL.
I'm a company driver, I have a plan. While I don't have a business, it's insane not to have some kind of plan for your money and expenses. Existing and the unforeseen.
I'm almost 100% positive that's what is wrong with our current economy. Otherwise, Dave Ramsey would not have a job. I've used his plan....years before it was "his" plan. While he was losing his first million. I was working my plan, which looks strangely like his.
A the current fuel market only drives the point home. If you saved for the unexpected. You can ride the wave. If not...oh well -
As someone who agrees almost completely with you I think people insult you because of how you come off on these boards. Some of your comments seem unduly strident and that may rile people up to much to try to carry on a reasoned debate.
-
I might have come off as a a-hole but this is because of the responses I have recived on here that set me off. When all I hear is "you don't know crap, you are a rookie". I came here to have a very respectfull and professional debate which has gone out the window a while ago because I disaggreed with this current strike and the others didn't like that.

Loggers are picked on by DOT because they know that there are no scales in the woods and most of the time we are over weight. The loggers pay for the ticket not the haulers unless they are one in the same. I never thought that I would ever have anything good to say about DOT checks but I'm glad that they are out there. Two weeks ago , on a Monday afternoon, I had just left the woods and went through a check. I was not over weight , scratch that, my truck was not over weight
but I had three brakes out of adjustment. Supposedly my truck had just been serviced on Saturday. I will not be using this mechanic anymore! I sat on the side of the road for an hour before I could get going again. This won't happen again because I am now DOT certified to do my own brake work. Anyway three miles from my destination a woman pulled out in front of me and another big truck that was in the left lane. In her infinite wisdom she felt like she could get ahead of the pack and it almost cost her the lives of her three kids as well as herself. The car stalled as soon as she came into my lane. I stopped four feet from her bumper. That DOT check saved the lives of four people that afternoon and now I don't have to live with knowing I had killed three innocent children and their stupid mother!

wow that was a lucky dot check. I don't mind the DOT checks because it keeps the POS trucks off the road. However there are some stupid things the DOT checks for.

Well, this post did exactly the opposite of what I intended it to do. It was not a call to debate the right vs wrong of the shutdown, nor to give people an opportunity to tell some of us how stupid we are. It was merely intended to give people an opportunity to step back from the situation and look at where they stand on the issue.
If you don't support the shutdown, fine...good luck, be safe and watch the 4-wheelers.
If, however, you DO support the shutdown, what have you done personally to advance the cause?
Unfortunately, boards like this are often not the best way to convey a message to a particular audience.
If possible, I would like the moderator to trash this thread as it has done nothing to provide positive input into the problem.
Respectfully,
Bea Hall
