Actually, you can mix, go back and forth from full to semi synthetic, to regular all you want. I've been using Full Synthetic since I got my truck in 09. I have seen no change in consumption. When I started with royal purple @ 280,000 and even to this day I only use 1 gallon make up oil in every 30,000 miles. I never buy oil at a truck stop, I never buy oil that I can get in a truck stop. the reason behind this is if you look at the advertisements " This oil is the best selling oil in truck stops." just think, why would one oil be a better seller at a truck stop. How many people out there driving trucks know what would make a good oil? my guess is that it's the cheapest oil you can buy. I mean really. with all the corruption in this business don't you think that some one has figured out. If I make a cheap oil they will buy it?

I'm using what has worked for me. I had a 91 Chevy in Florida, it was around 100 deg outside. I changed the motor oil, transfer case, rear axle and front axle all in the same day. I didn't really notice a difference. the next day I changed the transmission fluid, on the following day on my way to work I noticed the engine temperature gage moving up and down from 180 to 190. it was normally around 210 at that time of year and in rush hour traffic. I finally got it the gage was reflecting the thermostat opening and closing with the difference in the friction in the engine and trans mission. if just using a synthetic oil was able to drop the water temp that much how much less friction was my truck generating now. I've been using it ever since.
